What clutches are you 500ish whp guys running?
Set up is supposed to make around 500 whp, just curious which clutch to get. Read up on some old out dated threads that didn't help much.

im going twin disc. there are $2k options like exedy, and but im gonna give the $1200 spec a try. look on ebay to see some.

I'm using the old school ACT HDG6. Works great for me at 500+ rwhp.

awe you guys suck, i am going to far with an 800ftlb twin disc, i plan to run one 7670 sxe turbo maxxed to like 400hp, then add a 350hp turbo into mix later on.. and run around 700ft and 700hp.

OS Giken twin disk. They drive incredibly well on the street and hold more than 500whp no problem. I've been using one that I found used installed on a JDM pullout 13BT. It's kind of noisy when you have the pedal down, but I kind of like that twin disk jingle jangle. Don't be afraid of buying a used one. They last a long time, so one with 3.5mm or more of clutch material is definitely worth installing. Btw, I had a ACT HD/6 puck with their Prolite flywheel and with the OEM FD flywheel and couldn't stand it! The engagement is so abrupt and the pedal is so stiff, I hated daily driving the car. My buddy runs a OS giken twin disc in his with an efr 8374 IWG. his makes some noise with the clutch pushed in.
I run a new Exedy twin disc semi metallic in mine with an EFR 8374 IWG and have run it to 18PSI+. no issues holding power. I don't have any noise with my clutch pushed in except for start up, after start up no noise at all, whisper quiet and the clutch pedal isn't tough to push in, so I figure its not as hard on the clutch fork/slave/other components in the clutch assembly. The only thing we both notice driving twin discs which isn't a huge deal is sometimes the clutch is a bit grabby at times, and other times it feels pretty normal. so we notice a little variation in how the clutch grabs at times. |

I have the sprung ceramic 6 puck single with ACT extreme pressure plate in my FC and Exedy sprung ceramic twin plate in the FD.
I prefer the twin plate which drives closer to a stock clutch. |
OS giken triple plate full kit like for the last 10 years on the fc with over 500hp. Mcloed on my corolla with a semi periferal cosmo setup that when done should put down close 2 800hp.

I'm running the Exedy single disc HD sprung 6 puck. Newly installed, but hopefully works as well as the ACT setup that others have experienced.

That is why I ask.
From what I have read the carbon clutches will always slip when cold and the carbon disks wear quickly when they slip. You have to keep shifting to keep the heat in them. On the circuit when you pull out of the pits of off the line you "blend" the clutch a bit too much slipping it a bit on the first couple shifts to put heat into the disks and then it will keep warm shifting in/out of corners. On the street it will slip until you put heat into the disks and then they cool off if you are on the freeway. Get on the gas on the freeway and it will slip. There was someone on this forum that tried using a Carbon clutch on the street... Best contact the manufacturer and ask. |

There you go. It is the front disk that wears very quickly. Exedy recommends swapping front/rear disks every couple events! |
mine's a sprung hub with larger diameter discs and higher load rating
