Tires? Please help, also anyone useing these

Who make the best drag radials for 18in wheels I need 265-275 35 18s is nitto ever going to make them in these sizes? anyone else. What are some of you running and does anyone use Pereli P Zero Competition Hoosier R3503 they come in the size I need but I never heard anything on them if they were good or not. I have a serious traction problem now and I need to fix it.

I have no actual experience with OT tires on the strip, but I know a few Camaro guys that have used Hoosier's and Kumho's at the strip. They all say that they hook up okay, but you need a good burnout everytime because they do not retain the heat like a DR.

Buy 17s :)

18" rim is not a good rim to put drag tires on.. You need a tall sidewall and a 35 tire is far from tall. You should look into getting a 15/16 inch rim.

I may have to step down to 17s I guess but I love the way the 18s look.15s 16s thats way too small I want to be able to drive it to the track not swich wheels and tires run it and drive it home just because I want to be as fast at the track as on the street .:)

enzo250 10-11-01 07:47 PM

Whats wrong with driving to the track with 15's or 16's?

xtrme7 10-11-01 08:44 PM

Too small, funny looking just my opinion

enzo250 10-11-01 11:01 PM

Well have fun spinning down the track... Hey but don't worry, your car will look good...LOL

xtrme7 10-12-01 07:03 AM

That's hilarious :) I can hear it in the stnads now...the little kid looks up at their dad and asks him, "Daddy, why is that pretty car driving slower than the others?" :D

xtrme7 10-12-01 09:44 AM

Roy don't you have anything better to do than type on the computer all day at work:) BTW were going to Montgomory tonight so call me

Roy Johnson, Jr 10-12-01 12:35 PM

Why would you drive all the way to Montgomory to knock off some high 12s

xtrme7 10-12-01 03:02 PM

Thats not funny, I may have a set of dragradials to borrow

Roy Johnson, Jr 10-12-01 03:25 PM

That's cool....looking at mid 12s now :D You need to get rid of those 2.8 60' times if you ever want a good timeslip.

xtrme7 10-12-01 03:31 PM

real funny:flipoff:

15's or 16's also has the advantage of changing your overall gearing off the car meaning better acceleration

for putting power to the ground you want something with a 50 series profile or larger, not a 35 series, 35 series is a corning tyre not a LAUNCHABLE tyre

enzo250 10-12-01 09:15 PM

Thank You...

xtrme7 10-13-01 11:20 PM

Well I just cant sacrifice the looks of the 18's with thr 35 series just too damn good looking so I guess when I go to the track I will swap em out with factory wheels with 50 series dragradials. 95% of my street encounter have been from at least a 40 roll so If I come across a redlight and pull up along side someone I guess I will play catchup and then blow by them like there siting still.

enzo250 10-14-01 01:30 AM

Just so you know.. 80% of all drag races are won from the start.

If you want to play catch up, you better have alot more HP...

xtrme7 10-14-01 12:57 PM

First of all this is not the NHRA or NIRA .At only 16psi it made 410hp to the ground and 2730lbs makes for a pretty stout car and as far as haveing more hp I have this little thing called a profec B and all I got to do is turn a little knob,Which seems almost stupid because it's right on the borderline of not being streetble right now. What kind of power does your car put down? Around here not to much to worry about my friend has a 383 vortech supercharged camaro that puts down 540rwhp and we are pretty much side by side through every gear.
