T51R questions
 

hey guys, im in the market for a nice single turbo kit for my FD and im really interested in the HKS T51R. ive seen that the SPL is available in ball bearing... is the regular t51 also available in BB?

i know that u cant rebuild a BB but they spool up faster, approximately how much faster?

also, if i sent an apex seal thorugh the turbo and damaged the fins on the turbo how much would it cost to rebuild it with new propellers and all?

Generally a BB turbo spools up about 500-700 rpm sooner.
Only can rebuild non-BB = correct. I'm not sure of price, but I'm estimating in the 300-600 usd range?

spl is a little much for a 7. me and soul are using kai's. i have a bb and soul has a bush. should have then dynoed by the end of the week.

oh ok great, i thought that soul was running the BB spl but i guess i was mistaken. how fast does the BB kai spool? have u ever compared it to the bush version?

also, i spoke with HKSUSA and they stated that the BB turbos are not yet available to market. can you get you hands on another full kai BB FD kit?

Trust me,the lag on that T51R KAI isnt bad at all,its pretty insane actually.

yeah the BB must be really sweet i can't wait ot see the difference in power curves between my bushing kai and sokudo's BB

thats great to hear guys. i definately hope that im making the right choice. could u guys also point me to where the BB version is available, if i could i'd rather get it in BB.

also, doesnt the stock map sensor only read up to 17psi? where can i get an upgraded map sensor so that i can run 20?

the spool is like 5500 rpms from what i am told?and the lag isnt that bad?

I've heard that the BB version is hard to get for people in japan so I wouldnt plan on finding it anywhere in the us.

ya i know, HKS told me that its still in the testing phase here so i dunno. im hoping that sokudo or someone could get one for me and i'd mail them a money order or sumthin. that is if he can get me one

yeah they are still pretty hard to find, mialy for track use only not everyday use. give it about 6 months or so i think they will be easier to find.heres a pic of the new BB SPL

Is that housing made from a different aluminum than the regular KAI,it looks like a shinier surface.

oh and i see that u had to bang in the frame a lil to get it to fit. is this the case with all the HKS's or is it just the BB or just ur car?

How much is it 4 hks bb turbo and can you get me one sokudo?:D

Hope you guys realize that you're going to be paying like 5g just for the turbo.

anyone that would pay that much is plain stupid!!

ther wont be available again until late august. if you are interested i can order them now so you make sure you get one. depending on the yen rate will be about $2800 for turbo and an adapter for it to fit on a to4 manifold.

as far as hitting the car it depends on many different things, position, what manifold you use and stuff. i am using an HPI manifold.
