Size DOES matter...sorry had to say it! :D

cmartinp28 07-08-05 08:17 PM

depending on what exhaust trim.

t78 has a huge compressor and small turbine, whereas to4r has a large turbine and large compressor

t66 07-08-05 08:17 PM

The T78 is bigger, and I would go with the big 1.

Jimmynguyen 07-08-05 08:52 PM

hmm tuff pick

darkphantom 07-08-05 08:57 PM

Check My Signature. That should let you know which turbo to go with

Rotarded 07-08-05 08:57 PM

Gt35r Imho!

user 9348703 07-08-05 08:59 PM

I personally like the T04R better

GUITARJUNKIE28 07-08-05 09:00 PM

what's the power goal?

Jimmynguyen 07-08-05 09:05 PM

500Hp is good

tonyttt 07-08-05 09:05 PM

they both suck. had both. if you want a good street turbo go with t78 . its sound big but its not. if anyone talks about laggggggggg. they just need to learn how to drive. it comes in write when your coming out of a turn. but greedy turbos are the such junk . just get a good tune on it . to4e has no as behind it .

It all comes down to what your looking to get out of the car. You want more power at 15psi on pump or more power at 30psi on C116? If your building a street car, the T78 is a good blend of both. You can make low to mid 400s on pump and upper 500's on C16.

Jimmynguyen 07-08-05 09:13 PM

Tonyttt how would u noe if u riding a crx.

sillbeer 07-08-05 09:30 PM

Like Zero R said in your double post. What's your setup and what do you plan on doing with the car? You pick the turbo for you specific application. You don't just say, "that one looks good".

I'm running a HKS T04R, and i really like. Full boost about 3800~4000 rpms, pulls really hard. IMO this is a streetable turbo.

Im running a 1.15 A/R

I have seen both do 500 rwhp in person on a dynopak...Both very good turbos, its a tough choice between the 2.. I think getting the To4r rebuilt might be a bit easier in North America...Max

Jimmynguyen 07-08-05 09:58 PM

thanx for all the reply u guy r the best. i m happy now i noe more about them hehe

KaiFD3S 07-08-05 10:08 PM

to4r here and lag aint that bad the t78 was my first choice but got a better deal on the to4r so I went that route..either way they are both good turbos..I am running 375 at 13 lbs of boost to the wheels..plenty for me so I just run it with the boost controller off and runing about 10lbs off the wastegate...

And thats with stock ports :)

importrx7 07-08-05 10:45 PM

Both are great turbos. I've got the t-78 running 14psi on stock ports getting about 380rwhp.
The lag on the t-78 is highly overrated i get my boost fast but mine is upgraded so it does spool up a lil faster than a normal t-78.
This turbo on race gas can lay down 500 with a ported motor easy @ around 19psi.

black93RX7 07-09-05 01:05 AM

How did you do to upgrde your T-78? I am just in the middle of removing my motor and want to upgrade my turbo at the same time.

black93RX7 07-09-05 01:05 AM

Sorry, I meant, what did you do?
