well mazdatrix says .025 for the br10eix's. not sure if it would be the same for those or not.

I don't advise this. Don't use platinums over standard plugs, especially if you have or are using any kind of methanol in the charge. Very bad idea.

NGK BUR7EQ, BUR9EQ, R6725105, R6725110, R6725115 -- those are the plugs FC guys need to run. FD guys can use the B10EGV's that are using the PowerFC but that is a pretty cold plug for the street. The issue of having a resistor-type plug for use with the Haltech and Microtech setups is critical from what I understand as there's a potential for a noise problem interfering with the trigger. This is for street cars.

For anything over stock boost/stock power levels, absolutely do NOT use BUR7EQ's in the leadings. Swap them out for 9's.

Road-race guys who are seeing lots of load for 20+min at a time need a substantially colder plug; atleast 11's all around.

The issue isn't horsepower per se as that's a fallacious way to rate the use of plugs but rather is an issue of load and more-so chamber temperatures. Try those same warmer plugs on a road-race course and you'll see them be much more prone to turn into glow-plugs. Those that use AI with alcohol/water can get away with using a hotter plug as the chamber temperatures are (usually) much lower compared to gasoline-use only.

Get a stout enough ignition system and you can use colder plugs that won't foul. Bang, bang!

Spark-induced misfire due to a glowing spark plug is brutal and can be fatal to a rotary. I've seen it three times.

Platinum 9's all the way around are fine. Every car that leaves here uses them and I have probably sold 1000 of them.

... and they're a waste of money. Infact, with the use of methanol, they can be detrimental.

methanol cars cannot run the standard NGK "multi ground" plugs. you need a single electorde plug

classicauto 07-18-07 06:48 PM

hmmm.....same with other forms of AI? Any links to some good reading on the subject?

Poweraxel 07-18-07 06:54 PM

this only appies to full complete methanol based injection (not gas + light alky/methanol inj)

ahhhhh sorry. Anytime I hear BDC say meth I presume he's talking about meth as a form of AI.....

oops!
