Single Turbo so don't use BUR9EQ?

Ok so I just completed my single swap and am headed to the local parts shop for some new plugs. I was told I need colder then BUR9EQ plugs but I wasn't sure what I should go to though. Could anyone with a similier setup let me know what type of plugs your running? Thanks guys.

Setup:
GT35/40R
1300/550 INjectors
Walbro 255lph pump
FMIC
3" HKS Exhaust

BR10eix, you have to have a special socket for get them in and out though. Kgparts sells the sockets, lots of single turbo guys run these plugs.

I've heard the iex's are not good. lots of people are going br10egv.

onesick7 07-06-07 08:54 AM

Do you have to have a special socket for br10egv?

charlies7 07-06-07 10:21 AM

I just run 9's all around and haven't had any problems...

hondahater 07-06-07 10:38 AM

not sure about the socket but I think you do. Don't worry about it though, some places will sell those sockets for 60 bucks but you can find them for 20. or you could just grind down one of your own if you have a bench grinder.

onesick7 07-06-07 10:44 AM

oh man if Charlie is doing so am I! <3 <3 hehe thanks guys

hondahater 07-06-07 10:48 AM

I know I will not use a 9 in my car. Of course I'm shooting for 500+rwhp. I'll prolly end up going br11egv.

charlies7 07-06-07 10:50 AM

True, since ill be only hoping for 400whp :). 9's all around should be fine

hondahater 07-06-07 10:54 AM

yeah I believe it all has to do with your hp goal really.

villision 1revin7 07-06-07 11:50 AM

I have 9s all around 440hp

onesick7 07-06-07 11:57 AM

Yea I am going for 400-420 so I will try these 9's all around

smg944 07-06-07 12:55 PM

i had break up with 9's all around. i guess everyone is different. i also use a different plug. this plug was listed on the forum years ago and has worked great for me its a 10* and they also come in 11* ngk v power r5671a-10. worked great on my 427whp setup no break up at all. also they cost 1.80 a plug and you can use the 5/8 socket which is nice. since they are so cheap i change them every 2k miles.

dhahlen 07-06-07 01:17 PM

I did 9's all around, had the gapped plugs and the special socket. Did 500hp on these no problem.

For 400 rwhp, I run the stocker 9's in the LEADING positions, and BR10EIX in the trailing positions and I get a nice color on them and no break up.

The BR10EIX do require a thin wall socket which typically runs 50+ dollars and can be hard to find at the local store. I just took a standard cheap-o 3 dollar Craftsman socket and carefully used my bench grinder to grind down part of the tip (till it fits). Don't grind down more than you have to, and don't try to overtighten the plugs and it should work ok.

There aren't any BR#EGV plugs. They are non resistor and are B#EGVs.

The iridiums are resistor thus you have BR#EIX.

If not available locally: http://www.sparkplugs.com/

hondahater 07-06-07 02:16 PM

yeah thats where I get my plugs from and thanks, I knew I was saying it wrong.

Chris, if you're going to keep posting, how about you update this debacle of a thread?

Use "EQP" and not "EQ". The EQ doesent last for long...

rotorbrain 07-10-07 07:03 PM

the "eqp" lasts just as long as the "eq". . . dont waste your money.

Jay7 Nyc 07-12-07 12:37 PM

Good info, I'd like to try these ngk v power r5671a-10 plugs. Anyone else use these NGK r5671a-10 plugs on there FD?

DelSlow 07-18-07 06:56 AM

I checked at autozone for the r5671a-10 and they had them in stock, but what do I gap the single prong to? Never used plugs in my car that needed gapped before...
