Single Turbo Ccnversion Questions
 

My stock twin turbos seals went out for the second time so im wanting to switch it over to the single turbo i have a pretty good idea of the list of parts that i need, but i was told that in order to run a single turbo i have to by the stand alone engine management system in order to do that, so i was going to see if there is any truth to that and if so where i might be able to pick up a cheap one so i can get my car running again. Also i would like to know just a general list of everything that i would need to do the conversion. Well thanks for any help i can get

That's a list of what you should buy. You're definitely going to need an Aftermarket ECU. The stock ECU's fuel maps probably won't supply enough fuel. Don't take my word for it though. The PowerFC seems to be the most popular choice for Aftermarket ECUs though.

Hey Jeffi08, that's the list of mods you need to support a healthy single turbo conversion. I strongly suggest you do a lot of researching. And I high recommend you to start speaking to turbo dealers like A-Spec, rx7store.net (Jason) regarding turbos and your choice of power range you are looking forward.

Also, make sure that you are aware of how much you will be spending. Have a budget yourself and work around it. And if it isnt enough, i strongly recommend saving up because converting to single turbo = loads of cash to be spend. Good luck and ask as many questions as possible before you start on the conversion.

PFC is the easiest, but you'll want the Datalogit and a good-condition stock (or simplified stock) wiring harness. This can add up. The cheapest option would be Megasquirt, but that requires a lot more work & knowledge.

It also seems that trying to go single in stages doesant work out to well becouse the temptation to push it before everything is done and tunned blows up while your waiting for the money!
I know this all too well! The setup i have now i spent a year getting set up and many thousands of $$$$!
Its nice now being able to just start it up and drive with out near the fear ill need the tralior handy!
