At least run something in the mid-pipe for a street car. If you have the money run two nice mufflers... one in the midpipe one and one for the muffler.

can you post up a video of the sound? also, would you happen to have pictures of the exhaust on your car welded up?

jsnow82 12-02-08 07:18 PM

mono4lamar any videos of your exhaust sound?

mono4lamar 12-02-08 07:37 PM

I need a friend to come by with a video camera. I'll try getting something this weekend. Patience is a virtue. :)

so after months of debating and researching im finally getting a manifold, dp and hopefully 4inch exhaust made for my car. ill have to keep you guys posted on it. i saw a manifold that this guy made and its very solid. ill post pics as soon as i get them.

Did you decide on a turbo?

jsnow82 02-19-09 05:05 PM

yes sir, i purchased the s372 with 90ar turbine housing. its should spool quickly and have great power potential.

jsnow82 07-16-09 05:21 PM

Well after a long wait, I have the car on the road and its quite a set up. I went with the S372 turbo with the .90ar. I had Jim of JPR Imports in NJ and his awesome fabricator Keith make a manifold for the turbo and a 4inch exhaust. I ended up running two walbros in tank. The car currently is seeing a full 12lbs of boost at 3800-4000rpms in 4th gear with a rough tune and conservative tune and pulls really hard. I have so many pics of everything but dont know how to post pics! I'll have my buddy post them up for me. Thanks to everyone for the help and great direction, im very excited to see what this car is going to put down at 20psi.

so at what rpms does the turbo fully spool 20lbs of boost. its always been my curiousity.that the turbo ive been wanting. i want a similar set up.

ScorpionT 11-18-09 08:24 PM

The .90 a/r housing is a bit small. You should have gone with a larger 1.00 or 1.10 size. Let us know how it turns out though, interested to see a dyno.

jsnow82 11-19-09 06:53 PM

Well the 90ar is a hit for me as I was looking to keep the car below 30psi. The car hits 20psi at about 4500rpms and pulls really hard to my redline of 8500rpms. My buddy has a 550whp 240 and my car pulls on him. Its really fun to drive and such an exhilarating ride. Im looking at going with water or meth injections and more boost.

wait, are you saying you're boosting to 20psi WITHOUT AI?? I'm assuming you were on race fuel...

Really interested in know what your 20psi dyno numbers look like bro...:icon_tup:

Looks like the S372 worked out well for you, I think with the .90a/r you should have a great power curve to 24-25psi, beyond that you may see some boost drop toward redline... but you can't use over 24PSI (~600rwhp) on the street anyway, 99% of the single turbo's Supras out there won't see you at 24PSI on the street either...trust me. ;)

20psi on a 42r; all 93 pump fuel here. Awaiting dyno time to actually put some numbers down. On the street we're pretty scared even shifting into 4th gear...

wow very impressive. What gear were you in when you spooled it at that rpm.

I know exactly how that is. (t70 at 23 psi) I usually short shift 3rd to 4th and i'm still weary once that turbo starts spooling again. Losing traction at 100+ mph is a totally different animal then under 60. The car wants to go quite quickly in whatever direction it's pointing, and this is often not the same direction as the road.

Is the .90 a fully divided housing? Sounds like that BW s372 is a good spooling turbo for it's size. You're reaching 20 psi prob about 400 rpms sooner then me. Mine isn't ball bearing or anything though. I plan on adding a 4" exhaust and a divided housing to hopefully gain some quicker spool too. Even a couple hundred rpms would be nice.

I took these 2 quick videos from the passenger seat a few days ago. They're definitely not the best, but you can atleast get an idea. He currently has it backed down to 15 psi. I couldn't keep the camera still in the first vid and in the 2nd video, he bogged down in 3rd because he just spun through 1st and 2nd (was a little cold out though).

Im in 4th gear when getting 20psi at 4500rpm. I run 20psi on 93octane and 11.5AFR and 12 degrees of timing. Its pretty conservative as I have not been on the dyno and 4th gear pulls on the highway are hard to tune at 140+mph! haha.

It is a .90 divided housing and 4inch exhaust. The car is very loud! The videos that Brian put up do not serve the car justice and they are at 15psi.

swkiller 11-21-09 12:20 AM

nice video, my car is going to be basically the same thing, hopefully lol. mines is an 88' too. cant wait till i start getting everything together. =D

rnz520 11-22-09 12:05 AM

Do you know the part number of your BW turbo, I am looking at getting the same unit from a Diesel shop

Indian 02-02-10 02:41 PM

Any update on this 372 project? did you get fully tuned?

swkiller 02-06-10 02:19 PM

yea lol im desperately awaiting some dyno results XD

jsnow82 02-07-10 09:00 AM

sorry guys, no dyno yet. the car is fast. i should have dyno results in the spring time. you will not be dissapointed with the turbo!

Indian 02-11-10 12:45 PM

what information do you have otherwise. Sum up your setup if you can... engine setup..spool rate..full boost etc.

Thanks!

I just dynoed my car the other day and we made 471.4whp (uncorrected)@ 12psi with the Borg Warner s372 with 1.25 A/R and a Cosmo Half Bridge. I will be ruinning 26psi soon, but just going to break in the motor for a bit more with the low boost.... This turbo is Wicked and spools faster then my T88H

turbotoaster 02-19-10 11:22 AM

is a s372 just a s472 with a t4 rear end as they both seem to have the same size wheels
