mp 62-1 or mp t-70

MP62 -1 turbo
T04 P-trim Turbine Wheel - (Ind. 2.539”/Maj. 2.913”)
T04E Compressor Wheel - (Ind. 2.400”/Maj. 3.582”)
.70a/r T04E compressor housing 4" inlet

MP T-70 turbo
T04 P-trim Turbine Wheel - (Ind. 2.539”/Maj. 2.913”)
T04E Compressor Wheel - (Ind. 2.720”/Maj. 3.584”)
.70a/r T04E compressor housing 4" inlet

the only difference is .320" on the inducer... is that going to make a huge difference? in spool and power..... ill be using a 1.15 divided rear btw.

Im going for big peak HP... i was going to get the t70 one but i got a great offer on the 62-1. thats why i ask. Im trying to get 400+whp without having to run 20psi to get it.

Either turbo should get you 400whp below 20psi. From what I have heard, the inducer has more to do with the efficiency level than the overall flow which is more dictated by the exducer of the compressor.. however, I don't know exactly how accurate that information is.

so which turbo should spool faster?

s4 tii, stock port, divided manifold, divided 1.15 or 1.00 a/r rear. 3"dp no cats 3" cb.

i would probably say the smaller turbo..save the headache and get it, you will still make good power

sleeperfc 07-04-05 01:10 AM

too late :) i got a MP t-70

2a+RoN 07-04-05 04:06 PM

t70 w/ 1.15 on stock ports will prolly be pretty laggy, I'd say 1.00 for now, you can always change it later on tho. My friend has a t70 w/ .84 hotside on a massive streetport and hits full boost at ~4500...

That is a pretty big hot side for the a motor on stock ports. Did you buy that turbo from Ebay? People have some mixed emotions on those Ebay Master Power T70s.

sleeperfc 07-04-05 06:13 PM

so with a divided manifold... i need to run a .84, .96, 1.00?

i want it to be divided too to match the manifold. Im having a hard time finding a divided .96 tho. :(

I want max power.. freeway type racing. so a really peaky dyno sheet is cool.

i have to get another hot side anyway... it has a .70 on it.

im looking for full boost by 5k/5.5k in 2nd gear... and 4k/4.5k or so in 3rd.

so what hot side?

full boost by 4500 in what gear tho? load?

i have a feeling i wont hit full boost in 1st. maybe 10psi or so... then get the full 15psi in 2nd.

how much WHP does he make with that setup?

I think your better of with the 1.00 divided or 1.15 divided.
even at 10psi you will probably see figures over 350rwhp on the mpt70

sleeperfc 07-05-05 12:46 AM

well a .96 on center will fit without mods to the manifold.... i think im going to try it.. and if it sucks ill get it modded and change to a tang 1.00 later.

yes the garret .96 is t4 flanged but the mp .96 is t3 flanged.
is it my turbo?

sleeperfc 07-05-05 12:55 AM

i plan to change it. it has a t3 .70 on it, im buying another ptrim t4 housing.... i just need to decide on what size.

The Griffin 07-05-05 02:25 PM

If you are running stock ports and street drive it,0.84 tang/divided T4 would be a good choice with that large comp. wheel.

Slammedblk7 07-05-05 04:09 PM

i was seeing 350rwhp at 11psi. and 390rwhp at 13psi. on my Half Bridge i could hit 1bar in 1st gear from a stop. then 480rwhp at 20ish with a leak and old plugs

how much peak power loss would such a small housing cause?

How much faster spool would it give?

anyone running a .84 and still making good power on a large turbo?
