More problems, need help. Searched

I have read lots of threads, but im still wondering what is wrong. I just got the turbo back and put that on and it smokes a little less, but is gradually getting worse. The engine is a fresh rebuild with about 3,000 miles on it. I need to change the plugs since they are probably coated in oil from the turbo going out. I cleaned the intercooler piping and the intercooler out because there was about 1/2 a qt of oil in the intercooler from the turbo going out.

Now that i replaced the turbo with a fresh rebuilt one, i still get smoke on a new engine. It smells like oil and gas(no cats), and i have inspected my check valve comming from the oil filler cap. Another problem that i have is my coolant is starting to go a little crazy, the add coolant light comes on for about 30 sec and goes off. Sometimes the stock temp gauge will go up and suddenly drop within a matter of seconds. I think that my over-flow coolant tank might have a crack in it, because when i get on it coolant leaks out and gets sprayed on my windshield. The engine also is getting too hot for having a Koyo radiator. On the highway at 70 mph it still gets into the 104 range, then can drop to 89-94.

So now comes my question:
1.) Will a cracked overflow tank cause all of my coolant issues??

I will change and look at the plugs, and post pics to see if anyone can help diagnose.

Thanks
Eric

You running an FD engine? All I can think of about the oil issue in the intercooler is that your oil pressure is too high for that turbo, and will need a restrictor. I've heard that sometimes if you don't use a restrictor and your getting oil into the intake with an aftermarket turbo, is that you can blow your oil seal on the turbo. Correct me if im wrong, but thats what I remember reading in this forum.

blackplague, please stop offering advice. Thanks. Erics car has a dead coolant seal, his coolant is boiling over and his over flow looks like new orleans. His manifold is glowing bright read at idle. His base timing is between 0 to -2 at idle. Why rx7 store set it up like that is beyond me. The coolant on his windshield is from his t housing cap blowing off.

Eric is bringing his car to us in a couple of weeks so we can see what is exactly wrong. Not sure why his base timing would be at 0. I dont change any of the timing in vacuum from the base map on the power fc.

Damn man, sucks to hear about this....but I do know that your 119mph trap speed was not indicative of a car making 400+whp with a T78 running 15-16psi....not when my little 60-1 making 350whp is trapping at 118mph.

Hopefully it's not the motor, but then again, hopefully it will be something obvious, motor or not, that way it can be repaired and you can get on with enjoying your car. Small stupid unknown problems are absolutely hell. Good luck with it all.
