? guys running RE mani question..

What TB are you using? Were can I get a fuel rail and brackets to run 1600's?

I know this could go in the 3rd gen section but I never get good response there..

blitzboy 06-26-08 04:21 AM

I use the 20B throttle body on on my 13BRE Cosmo LIM/UIM, I use the KG Parts fuel rail , my tuner made up a bracket to hold the rail onto the the RE LIM, this is on a 13rew engine, posting pics later tonight on my blog per my sig so you can have a look.

sk8world 06-26-08 12:07 PM

so is the 20b tb any differant than the 13b? Is there a us version that has the linkage on the corrsct side? Thanks Blitz....

If memory serves the 20B is larger, cut the plenum open(lengthwise) on a band saw and clean it out weld it back up, you'll be glad you did.

A can opener! :rlaugh:

TB sizes.
13B-RE.... All 3 X 45mm
13B-REW/20B-RE.... Prim 1 X 45mm
Sec 2 X 50mm
All three have the same manifold bolt pattern but fitment will have some issues.
There's an open cavity on the bottom of the RE intake manifolds for the BAC valve passage that the FD's TB won't cover. Some use epoxy to fill in that area if not using the BAC valve.
Also the TB elbow for the FD and RE are not interchangeable.

Zero R 06-26-08 03:12 PM

exactly!

sk8world 06-26-08 03:56 PM

Cut it open length wise? I would love to see a pic showing what you are cutting out....

The linkage for TB cable.... Its on the backside??

When you cut it open it will be obvious what you want to remove. Pic is not of a RE manifold just a pic of a split open plenum that floats around online. They are different.

slo 06-26-08 04:51 PM

and for the injectors, the RE's stock secondary fuel rail is for top feeds and thus will take any jap style top feeds, no need to be an after market rail.

sk8world 06-26-08 04:52 PM

thanks, any certain place to cut better than the other.

This is most likely a very noob question, but what would I be looking for word wise to find 1600 cc "jap style" injectors? I mean, is there a word for that style? I would love to not have to run after market rails, would save me some serious $. I wanted to run 1600s and stock side feed 550s.

I read somewhere that you can take the Bosch 1680's and slightly modify them to work with the Cosmo 13b rail...

By the way, if anyone wants a Cosmo 13b UIM, let me know. I have one that I'll let go cheap.

classicauto 06-26-08 05:28 PM

Yup the regular bosch 1600's shoudl be able to be used after a few easy mods...just like in an FC rail.

I cut them down the middle, no real "magic" place, just remember it has to be welded back up, so you may have cosmetic concerns on a street car.

I have no stock rail for the mani. Plus I am guessing the stock rail is not set up for AN fittings. I will check with KG on this. Thanks for all the above info. Mike

blitzboy 06-27-08 10:44 AM

Keep forgetting to take a pic of my setup for you Mike, will do tomorrow as I am replacing my engine loom tmoz.

As for the cosmo rail I tried using that before using the KG parts rail was fitted, it just would'nt seal correctly tried different O rings but no cigar, The KG rail works a treat with the o rings that come with the 1680 injectors, plus you would have to do some welding to get AN fittings to work on the cosmo rail. Plug and play with the KG

sk8world 06-27-08 11:14 AM

you going back with the RE or new set up for mani?

Whenever you cut one open again, could you possibly take pictures and show us exactly what is going on? You say it is obvious, are there some major obstructions in there or what?

Thanks and sorry for bringing this semi back from the dead. I just remembered of the post today while staring deeply into my throttle bodies eyes wondering if it will ever love me back. :/

sk8world 01-05-09 03:09 PM

I will dig for a pick but it is easy to see what needs to be done. There is a plate that divides the runners up. Basically cut/grind the plate out for better and more even flow.

hmmm, if you remove that, doesn't that allow air that should only be going to the primaries go to the secondaries also where there isn't any fuel? (like at very light throttle when only the single primary plate is open?) I could be wrong, so please correct me. :) Just trying to learn.

arghx 01-06-09 01:58 AM

doesn't removing the divider defeat the purpose of a 3-bored TB? and doesn't the divider work with the runners such that the opening and closing one primary port pulls air into the other? Or maybe on the RE it doesn't work that way and it isn't so important. The RE manifolds are definitely different. It seems like the stock design would be better for driveability.

thetech 01-07-09 12:29 PM

KG Parts sells an RE fuel rail, there's no need to make an adapter for an FD rail. I am using the rail on my race RE engine.

rxspeed7 01-07-09 06:27 PM

i have been running the kg rails with nippon denso injectors with the larger o-ring for two years now with no problems.
