May be a general question but curious and tempted to buy the Garrett Gt4088r or gt35r and what A/R to get I'm new to Garret turbos but will like to achieve power goals. Aiming 415-440 on pump gas (93 oct) on my streetported 13b-REW. Car will sometimes be at the track but mostly on the street and highway pulls beating against the V8 guys. Help me out. If you guys have any of the turbo setups post them. I will like to get advice! Thank you.

 

for that power level I'd go with a Turblown TDX61

well, the gt35 or gtx35 can take you to that power level but the TDX has the same compressor with a larger turbine wheel with less backpressure and more power potential if you want more in the future. Similar in size and power potential as the EFR8374 but a little less responsive and more affordable, can be had journal bearing or ball bearing.

It's not that I'm recommending Turblown the shop per se but I don't think any other shops have something like their TDX turbos.

Ihor at IRP performance is offering the 62mm compressor with a P trim exhaust wheel on journal bearing, not sure if he is offering the setup in ball bearing.

Another alternative is the borg warner SXE "8376" which is a 62mm compressor, 76mm exhaust wheel (all SXE turbos are journal bearing)

 

Contact Force Performance about making a HTA GT3582R in 1.06 AR turbine. They also can make it with a larger compressor.

I've got this turbo, bloody love it for response and power. 401rwhp at 13.5psi, still waiting to get it down for E85.

Full boost about 2.5-3K rpm. (if you can get the car wanting to drive that low in the RPM )

 

Honestly, the standard GT35 and GT40 turbos are pretty dated. If you stick with Garrett I would at least get the GTX version with the billet wheel. At that price point you almost might as well get an EFR. If you want something more budget oriented, I do offer the GT61. Its basically a plain bearing 35R that spools almost as well, flows more, and is significantly cheaper. Making it in ball bearing would defeat the purpose as it would raise the price. It is built all from Genuine Garrett parts.

The S362 SXE is another option, but will spool a little slower than the above turbos or an EFR8374.

That being said, the GT35, GT61, or EFR8374 would be perfect for your power goals.
