GT35R oil feed restrictor

Ok, i know ballbearing GT35R does have own oil restrictor, but i read somewhere you are supposed to restrict it even more, especially on our cars running hight oil pressure (90psi or so)

Anyone is actually using ATP restrictor or something else?

thanks

we use it with all our GTR turbos. No complaints yet

.035 hole size right?

Dpending on the installer the otheroption is venting the hell out of the system. I was told at the Garrett both at JGTC to use athe ATP restrictor. Stephen(SPO) seems to have good results with better venting, and no restrictor. Carl

As Railgun will tell you If setup up right you shouldn't need one. We've never used any and never had the issues some people on here seem to have. Some of our cars going on four+ years same motor and turbo.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I'm running a 35r without one and haven't had any issues. Yes, I will see pressures upward of 110 psi, but as far as the turbo is concerned...it's as happy as can be...as am I. :D

well i got blowby, so i guess its problem of oil pan venting, but adding restrictor should not hurt, right?

If you have a big enough oil return path and the oil feed is in the recommended position and a vented/depressurized pan, I don’t think you will will have a problem. I remember testing the feed line right before it enters the 35R and I think it was around 60Psig still no smoking.

I would be leery of the of ATPs solution as it really isn’t designed for the types of pressures a rotary is seeing, though I have not tested it to see what it would return for pressure numbers.

what would be proper oil pan venting then ?

rotarypower101 03-03-05 04:19 PM

You can either vent the filler neck, catch can with a vent, or pipe it into the manifold from the filler neck

just that alne fixed me up. thanks SPO:D
