Hey guys. I finally got my turbo. Ray is gonna install my M&W ignition and I'll pop the new hairdryer in place. Then back to the dyno. Can't wait!
Should be in and done for the first race in June.

Yeah. I am looking at their non ball bearing version they are releasing for another project toward the end of the year. I did get to see the new 88mm version of the GTX style wheels that hasn't been released yet.....to bad i can't spool one of those...lol.

Zero R 04-21-10 07:36 PM

I never got your messages I now have to kill my guy here. As for the turbo you have a 4294 correct? It's 71.9mm inducer, 94mm exducer. I'm referring to a 72mm inducer 102mm exducer. I'm only bringing it up to bust your balls though. What you have is nice indeed.

Hellooo Sean come out of hiding :fawk: time for you to own up to your screw-ups, Ryan's getting a little tired of being blamed for everything you don't do.

Damn I wonder what else I get blamed for that I don't know about.

Sorry Ernie, didn't mean to:rl: your thread. You can blame Sean, I mean me for that one

Kinda little brother to mine.....

Trots*88TII-AE* 05-04-10 06:32 PM

it literally is bigger than the engine. That's going on a 3-rotor, no?

Xcentric 05-04-10 08:03 PM

Yes, I'd never try to spool that on a 13b

Turblown 05-04-10 10:46 PM

We are looking to fire up our shop car hopefully next week; it has the smaller GTX4294R...

ErnieT 05-05-10 06:33 AM

Mine will be on this weekend as well :)

justturbo2 05-05-10 09:04 PM

Hey, Ernie are you coming up to atco for the may 22-23 event?

ErnieT 05-05-10 09:25 PM

I'd like to bro, but thats my sons b-day party.

allrotor93 05-09-10 07:12 AM

When will we see comparison of gt vs gtx?

ErnieT 05-09-10 08:50 AM

Next week :)

20B drag set up?

Xcentric 05-11-10 09:06 AM

It'll fit with mods to the water pump and radiator relocation. You do have to have a custom exhaust mani made.

Hey Ernie, I'm excited to hear @ how these billet compressors work hurry up!

allrotor93 05-11-10 10:18 AM

The supra guys arent seeing any increase over the GT wheel....they only went up to 30psi though.

I hope the rotary brings out the good in this turbo :)

darkphantom 05-15-10 07:57 AM

how much was the gtx wheel?

darkphantom 05-15-10 09:40 AM

ive been doing alot of research on those garrett gtx turbos and honestly, unless your running big amounts of boost (28 & up) your not really going to see a big difference. The gtx makes 10-20more hp in the 20-28lbs range. Now once you get to the 35-40lbs of boost then the gtx will flow a shitload more than the basic ball bearing turbo it replaces

ErnieT 05-15-10 12:11 PM

My best friend has a Supra and had the same setup i did. He switched and made 72rwhp more at 30psi and a much broader powerband.

darkphantom 05-15-10 12:54 PM

/\ and just guess how much more power he would get if the boost was at 35lbs. were talking about at least 140hp more. meaning for the 35r guys & there 15lbs of boost It would be a waste of time forthem.

BTW before i retune the car im going to put the gt4508 wheel in the GT4202 and well see how much it really makes.

Ill be awaiting your dyno results (hopefully without a BOOM!!!)

allrotor93 05-17-10 05:57 AM

Any numbers?

ErnieT 05-17-10 06:17 AM

Don't worry, if my car was done, I'd post. Good or bad. Im not one of those guys that will bs ya if things don't go well. Ray is just backed up. Hopefully I will get it this friday for the race this weekend.

Howard Coleman 07-10-10 03:42 PM

any updates?

ErnieT 07-10-10 04:09 PM

Sorry, Howard. Thought ya knew. Everything went great. So good in fact, I won the last NSCRA race at MIR with my best et of 9.79@142mph.
The car dyno'ed about 40rwhp more at 30psi then the 74mm GT42R. It spools about 400rpms faster too. I think over 32psi, this thing is gonna really shine. Gonna see this coming weekend at the Pan American Nationals. Also I used to use straight meth injection. This was with nothing at all. Just turbo!

Erdin 07-10-10 04:14 PM

Ernie, let me get this stright, your old turbo was the gt4202r and now you useing the gtx4294r, is that right?

We are close, but we've just been too busy with customer's cars. We are in the middle of a 2JZ with a GTX42 also..

Correct. The old one was the GT42R with the 74mm compressor 1.01 a/r
New one is the GTX42R with the 71mm compressor (billet).

Hmmm, so you actually lost 3mm on the compressor, took off the meth, and gained 40whp and quicker spool at only 30 psi! I guess the doubtful rumors are squashed. Congrats on your win. I'm guessing you might have some traction issues in your future?

Thanks, but no traction issues. Just lower the tire pressure a bit more ;) Guys are making alot more power then me and can hook. Im just a little fish compared to the guys at the pan ams. It was very cool to win the true street class though. Took out a few supras along the way too
Here is the video of the finals.

I am adding water injection, but didn't have anything for that race. Didn't have time for another re-tune. My charge temps for that race went up to 175. That was scary. Used to meth where it never went over 100 lol..
