Exhaust manifold gasket

i thought there was a way were you could use a different manifold gasket that was one piece instead of the 2 piece design that the 3rd gen uses. also i thought that the one piece unit was cheaper than the $130x2 a piece gaskets that mazda sells. anyways if you guys could help me out that would be great.

2nd gens have a 1 piece gasket. I haven't tried to see if it fits though.

I have a 1 piece gasket from a Greddy kit. Bought it for $25 CDN.

I have an AutoCAD drawing of it here.

There's no reason the 2nd gen gasket shouldn't fit. Matter of fact, I've test-fit an exhaust manifold that was designed for an FD on an FC block - as far as the flange and bolt holes, it fit fine.

The only problem might be if you were worried about emissions/EGR - the EGR hole might not line up.

That said, the '87-91 TurboII's use a heavy duty stamped stainless gasket that's REAL durable. It's about $50 or so new.

I've used the T2 gasget on my 3rd gen with no problems.
