Can't Get More Than 22psi

What's Up. Just Trying To Help A Friend Out. He Has An Fd With Greddy T78kit. With A 15psi Spring In Wastegate. 3 Row Intercooler, Factory Intakes. He Can't Get More That 22psi Is There A Problem With His Boost Controller. Btw He Has A Greddy Boost Controller. Or Is The Exhaust To Small. He Has Apexi Gt-spec Please Help Thanks Guys Justin

marcus219 05-16-07 06:18 PM

doubt its the exhaust probably boost controller issues

DelSlow 05-16-07 06:35 PM

Put a stiffer spring in the wastegate?

justturbo2 05-16-07 07:17 PM

Delslow So Instead Of O 15psi Spring Go With A 20psi Spring?

dregg100 05-16-07 09:08 PM

damn only 22 psi. lol

marcus219 05-16-07 09:13 PM

you should be able to manipulate it with the boost controller...that would be the point of one. haha.

yea no shit. i have an EVO buddy (damn evo bastards) and hes talking about 22 psi likes its no biggy on pump. i hope he gets bad gas one day!

"DEAR LORD I DO APOLOGIZE FOR THAT COMMENT"

I think you are having boost controller problems you should be able to boost over 22psi on a 15 pound spring. your solenoid might be messed up. do you have the profec-b?

BASTARD 05-16-07 10:10 PM

what wastegate does he have?

He said a greddy t78 kit. does greddy make there own gates?

justturbo2 05-17-07 08:38 AM

prfec-s boost controller greddy wastegate it comes with the kit

Jumbogumbp 05-17-07 09:21 AM

whats the blow off valve set to? and is there a pop off valve? the bov may be set to 22psi and it's just bleeding off the extra pressure.

villision 1revin7 05-17-07 01:36 PM

If your running the greddy wastegate you have a 8 pound spring if i'm not mistaking that is what came with my kit then you will prolly have to get a bigger spring then that would fix your problem

yep.

The Type R gate they put int the kits *should* have a 8lb spring. You're boost controller is doing an awfully good job considering it should only be able to approximately double the spring pressure of the wastegate.

Bad2ndgen 05-17-07 02:58 PM

If its an 8# spring you may need a stiffer one with the profec as they lack the resolution to make much more than double the spring pressure. If its not the spring try taking off the air filter, I have had air filters cause this problem before, especially the foam filters like the HKS and the Greddy.

spring was changed to a 15psi spring, which was purchased from greddy

What color is the spring? Make sure you have the right spring first. Second, on the back of the greddy wastegate, directly in the middle, there should be a threaded screw there, make sure that is in there. Sometimes under boost they loosen and fall out.

I just noticed it says "factory intakes"

How are you using a factory Y pipe with a single? And either way, I'm sure whatever restrictive "factory style" intake is on there isn't helping your boost level either.

+1.

You could also be blowing air out of the intake manifold area somewhere and not know it. I run into that fairly often.

Hey Justin, sounds like you have a leak somewhere in the gate or the lines somewhere, OR the boost controller isn't connected properly, check over the install and I bet that's it's something not connected properly or leaking.

justturbo2 05-18-07 12:44 PM

I Would Have Him Check Over The Settings And Such. Thanks
For The "factory Intake" I Ment Factory Intake Manifolds. I Mentioned That Because Someone Said They Might Be To Small. Which I Douted But Figured I Would Mention It.
