Anyone run the newer 6765 BILLET turbo??
...we've had great success with this relatively smaller sized turbo on the MKIV Supra's. There are several guys which have put down as much as ~850rwhp on this billet turbo yet they have the spool rate of a typical 67DBB*
Has anyone here run this newer turbo yet to compared it with say, a T04Z?? My theory is that it would spool the same but make as much as 100+RWHP more up top... could be the winning formula for these cars ;) ~ Kayvon |
Your theory is right, they will make 100+whp more than a T04Z and with better spool. Ive seen a handful of guys making 750+whp lately with 2JZ's, and even one over 800whp.

How does this compare to the mainstream GT35R/40R/42R ?

Everything i've read about these turbos has been positive. Anyone know what the price range is?

I waited for 6months for Forced Inductions to get me a billet GT42R 80mm then got fed up and Enzo got me the stainless one from Tial.

I get 30psi by 4200ish with my 42R now (74mm) if that helps.

I know this video is old but it doesn't look like you get full boost until 5600-5800 RPM? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTeKQPUnzCc thewird |
Your right, but it hitting at 5k, not 6k. My bad. It does hit hard though lol...

How much laggier? I have an A-Spec 500R-SP currently which gets me 16 PSi @ 3800-3900 RPM. Would it be worse then this?
thewird ~ Kayvon Ernie T, you gotta new GT42R 80?? :) |
I'd rather have the same response and 100+ more horsepower potential since my current spool is pushing it before lag becomes an issue on small road coarses. Is there such a thing? Where do you buy these turbo's anyway? Might be worth a try at least.

I have a PT 6776 that I have been running for 4 years.
I love it. 400rwhp at 14psi I can get 19psi by 4500-5000RpM...I have a Q wheel, I think a P will be even higher. |
I think The ideal all around turbo was found many years ago, The T66 BB P Trim .96 AR IMO.
Three things I like about bigger Turbine AR's and one I don't... Less Back pressure=more power Less Back pressure=easier on engine Power up top means you will not be spinning out down low when you put foot down. Lag=if you are not ready the little mustang will eat you. The faster it spools the harder it is on you engine. You can on cheat this by going BB |

You sir have a bridgeport but thats still a little unbelievable for a 42R???
thewird Keep in mind how fast your boost climbs is effected by the target boost level. A turbo will spool up quicker if it is running 35psi target versus 16psi target. 30psi comes up pretty quick when your hitting 50+ psi. The precision billet stuff is nice, precision is also experiencing some pretty good backorders on stuff depending on what you order when. I know we waited quite a bit for a few turbo's and I still have a few more that seem to never get done. I think the 67 billet makes the TO4Z obsolete as well as making the 42R a bit oversized now for most street cars. 62/65 is ideal IMO for most 450whp street track setups. |
The 6765 spools a bit quicker than a 40R and makes power like a 42R(no joke). It should spool a few hundred RPM (300-600) than the 35R or 500R and is capable of 150+whp more.
Thewird, I agree the 6262 is the right turbo for you. You dont really need the larger turbine of a 6265 unless youre pushing the turbo to the limits. In my experience, the 6262 spools VERY similar to the 35R and after a certain point boost comes on quicker. |

Since Billet doesn't come in divided manifolds yet, would putting the current 500R-SP hotside on the 6765 turbo, make it an even better spooling turbo on the caliber of the 500R or better but with 200+ HP potential? It seems like a big jump, are these turbo's really that good lol? As always, I plan to run 25-30 PSi but I think fueling would become an issue at that point with this turbo. thewird |

Your turbo will choke big time up high and would be able to hold the boost/torque at higher rpms. It may work for the 62mm billet comp. wheel of the 6262 however* (which still flows approx. ~100HP up top over yours now) #2) With a typical 1000/1680 inj set-up you'll easily have the fuel you need to support 25-30PSI on either of these two turbos ;) ~ Kayvon |
I think the 500R hotside would be too restrictive also, and if you mean just the turbine housing it wont switch over. It sounds like what you need is a 6262 or 6265, because the 6765 is a HUGE jump up.

Being your so lag sensative for the kind of track work you take your FD thru the 6262 or 6265 billets would be perfect for you* Neglible lag increase with approx. 100HP more potential up top. If you have a large street port and redline it to ~8500-to-9000rpm I would suggest the 6265* Stock redline to ~8500rpms and small porting the 6262. And again, either of these two 62's mentioned will have more than adequate fueling running 1000/1680 inj's for upto 30psi. ~550+rwhp. (on Q16) Probably 22-24psi on E85. ~ Kayvon |
I currently have 750/1600 injectors for pump gas and about 1,100cc's of methanol. What is the difference between the 6262 and the 6265? Is there any way to get a divided housing as this would increase spool by a bit I imagine. Would the 6262 be better or worse spool then my current 500R-SP which has a 0.84 divided hotside?
thewird |
Bro, here you go... http://www.spracingonline.com/images/products/3663.jpg
Precision 6262 with the ball bearing option, lag will be within a couple hundred rpms of your current turbo (neglible) yet 100+MORE HP up top @ 25+psi than ur 500R. ~ Kayvon |
