Obviously those tiny turbos were screaming to ~19-20 and back down to 17-18psi !!!!! |
go supra with powerhouse raceing :D

I've heard many good things about the T-51, and this one is ball bearing, so lag would be less. But how do the two turbos compare? Thanks again! -Pete Here are a couple posts about the T51 from other members who have or have had this turbo on their cars. Originally posted by Poweraxel HAVING EXPERIENCE with this turbo on my car.... For the boost pattern. 2k rpm: 0 3k rpm: 5 psi 4k rpm: 9 psi 5k rpm: 13 psi above 5k: full boost in no time. I have run 27 psi with the T51R kai turbo. When it's above 5k rpm, it will go to pretty much to any boost you want in less than a sec. My engine is mild street ported so it might spool up the turbo faster than a regular stock port motor. 2k rpm: 5 psi 3k rpm: full boost in no time. But also, I know the T51 is capable of much higher boost levels. The Garrett units efficiency drops off after about 22-24 psi. Hope this helps. |
GotBoostd7: thanks for the quotes and RPM/PSI estimates. By chance would anyone have RPM/PSI estimates for a T04R. And anyone know about the streetability on that turbo. Ball Bearing if ya have the info.

Thanks for your input GotBoostd7! Yeah, that GT3540 setup seems pretty nice. I plan on having an aggressive street port and I don't plan to run any more than 24 psi, even on race gas. Thanks for all your help! I think I shall go with the GT3540. I guess I'll use the HKS GT wastegate 60mm too. Now it's just time to find a manifold and downpipe maker.... ;)

PM soulassasin. He's the only one I know of off hand that ran a T04R.

yup, thats the same turbo we have on the talon.
I maxed that thing out at 570 WHP on the Talon IMHO its a wee bit small for a rotary, and that compressor is a 55lb/hr wheel maxing out a turbo is rare, we got it to go to 11hp per lb, 10hp/lb is normally the max But an awesome turbo nonetheless. It will be torquey as hell. And very fast boost response. On a rotary you want to go bigger compressor cause of the lower BSFC. I'm not sure if it can make the same power on a rotary, they like bigger exhaust housings. |
Good gracious pete... lol... why didn't you tell me bout your new little project...
