My downpipe is 3in, my intake pipe is also 3in my intercooler is a/w dimms are
8x21x3.5 the intercooler cfm is 1000 cfm (no pressure drop) this is a custom unit
from corky bell one of a kind, trust me no one else has one I am very thankfull and
lucky to have it. it seems like it's not even there. for years i was using the cartech
cast manifold, which works very well. jus recently protech performance released it's NEW tubular s/s manifold, and it is awesome so awesome I couldnt get traction if I wanted it. broke the tires loose in all "4" gears nothing was changed
exept for the NEW manifold

protech performance fuel system, which will be released @ the rotary revolution
they will be releasing the complete fuel systems for the 2nd gen and 3rd gen
rx7's rx-8 fuel system coming soon. I was using the haltech e6-k,but switched to
the haltech e-11 for MORE control. the engine has stock ports but running the 9.7
rotors w/ stock upper n lower s/5 intake n T/B

88fc, still at Yokota air base. Waiting to return to san antonio to see what Tearbo2's car will look like in my rearview mirror.

TEZT, My set up was, 3" mandrel bent exhaust from turbo to a strait through muffler. Intercooler pipe was 2.5 from turbo to intercooler, then 3" to a 3" t-body ( a GM one ). Made my own UIM. Intetcooler was ( home made W/A ) 16" long X 12" high X 3.5" wide with 2.5" in and out. Exhaust manifold had 2.5" runners that are around 6-8" long, not equal length.

Jin 13b try another size up from precision turbo like the PT76. Then let us all know how it performs on a 13brew. Their has been documented proof from the 61, 64 , 67 and 74. Now lets see the 76. I would go with it but on my newest engine I did not have a large port done.

jin 13B 03-17-05 03:13 PM

well I'm not planing on large ports or too big of a turbo do to the reason I wana still be able to drive it around the streets for some fun, but hey if I blow this new engine there s alway gona be room for improvement like a PT-76 next time

I'm confused.

well, I will have a port job done. It's a street port and as far as the turbo gose PT-76 is rated for 1100 HP that's not what Im looking for really. I have seen many othere 7's make 500+HP with out having to do all that much, but thank's for your sugestion.

diyman25 03-18-05 03:42 AM

500WHP or 500 FLY wheel HP

A bit different. First why do you need that much power ? Do you plan to do DRAG racing? I know you will not use half of your power on street or Hight way. and 500 WHP is a bit too mcuh for Track drive(Road Race) also .

With 500WHP even your engine can hold it. you will spend A lot of money doing addiontional upgarde on your car. you will start to braking stuff......
( unless you dont drive it hard, like those Dyno QUeen car, but what is the point if you build a hight performace car but not drving it hard, I drove my car hard when I need it but I also take good care of her)

With 500WHP will you able to get traction on Regular Street tires? Spin tires is fun. but it wont go any faster than not spin the tires......
(Do you plan to do a Burn out every time you plan to lunch the FD? hope you own a privte street around your house)

IT is not hard to make 500WHP, infact it is easy on DYNO. making MAX hp is easy, but make ing reliable and be able to use it, is hard......

I think for a Street driven FD3S 420 WHP will be more than enought to get you do to any thing you want ? AND with only 420WHP. it is not a CAR for every one....
you wont be able to jump in and drive the car for a year or two and think it will hold it togeter.

diyman25 03-18-05 03:47 AM

How much $$ you are going to spend ? I know it is bit harsh, but SPEED cost money, so do HP.

BE able to show off to your friend and average joe. That you have 500WHP is great ? BUT I think it wil be better that you Drive the CAR better and faster!!!!!( 1/4 mile times or LAP time form RACE track, )

jin 13B 03-18-05 04:36 AM

as far as money gose I have 10G invested and 10G's more to go. as far as the car gose she will be a weekend driver track car and show car all in one, and 500+WHP is just my own personal goal plus it would be nice siting next to my friends 455WHP 89' nissan 240SX

diyman25 03-18-05 05:58 AM

20G is this engine Alone or all deal? 20G will just barely enought

Let me brake it down for you

3000-5000 for a good rebuild engine( with porting).( change most of parts) you dont want some BACK yard special right ?

3000-5000 Turbo kit.

1000-1500 intercooler kit.

500-1500 Flywheel and clutch ( dont think your stock clutch will hold it)

Coolingsystem( WATER/OIL)1500

Fuel support 900-1500( this incl injecotrs, pump, FPR)

EFI. 1300-3000.( PFC, TEC3, MOTEC, your choice)

Rear END Up garde. 1200-3000. ( dont think your rear end will hold up very good)

TIRES/Brake. 3000-7000. I dont think Cross drill rotors and pads will stop 500Whp machine... and 19 bling bling with cheap tires wont give you the grip you need

LAST But most important. The install and tuning..... 3000- to what ever it will cost to make it right you better not cut corner here or you will be sorry later....

And let me told you this. There are NO weekend driver track car and show car all in one. BE real man. When you go to Real race track you dont see real Show car doing fast.... when you are in CAR SHOW Not too many people will want to see a REAL RACE CAR.....

How ever IF Build a 500WHP FD3S is your dream Go for it. But I just want let you know The real parts of build CAR......

well thank you for your 2 cents, and yes it's true someone would pay that much retail. but I don't pay retail, and for installs you could pay that much if you don't know how to do it your self. the fact is I don't pay retail or pay for my installs due to I'm certified to do it my self but really thank you.

I was just asking..

It doesn't matter what the turbo is capable of.. It is all in the application. TO4R's make 7-800 easily on Mustangs.. But won't get near that on a FD..

How many 500HP Rx7's have you seen? It's not like they're common.. Unless I'm sadly mistaken..

I'm just trying to offer a little insight.. A 350-400 HP FD is nearly unstoppable if complimented with a good driver..

I just hope you flare the rear and put some 335's back there.. My 275s are all over the place at 12-13psi with a TO4R and I can't imagine that being much over 375.. if at all.

though it's great that you're researching your stuff, why didn't you just start a thread for yourself instead of resurrecting this one? it's over 2 years old and something tells me this guy never got off the ground with his 500+ HP buildup. maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think so ... :)
