1984 series 3 13b turbo... wastegate position... pics

hey all, im currently putting a series 6 turbo block into my series 3 RX7, have motor and gar box etc all mounted etc. Now, i've got a to4e turbo mounted up on a manifold i made up the other day, my question is how important is the position of the pipes that lead off to the wastegate (have a 48mm Turbosmart). Do i want to have 2 seperate pipes coming off the extractor pipes merging into one, or just one pipe coming out from under the turbo inlet flange... retty sure i'm going to go with the first option (2 pipes into 1), but just curious :)

Cheers

have made the manifold out of 2" steam-pipes bends

The car as it is now has...
series 6 turbo block (standard internals)
series 5 turbo gearbox
toyota hilux diff
series 5 rear calipers and discs
to4e turbo
series 4 oil cooler
new series 1 3-core radiator
12" SPAL fan with shroud
850cc pimary and 1650cc secondary injectors
2 litre surge tank
front coilover suspension
front series 6 calipers with honda prelude rotors
16" motoforms
450x300 intercooler (will have 3" piping)

have since changed this slightly, moved the threaded sleeve down another 80mm and shortened the strut body for a shorter bodied shock by 40mm, added some keeper springs, to allow the car to sit nice and low but still have travel,

as it sits here i still have 2" of travel

shortened the gearlever position by fitting the series 3 gearlever housing and shoreneing the shifter rod to suit.

made up some adapters for the front calipers

the old 12a bridgeport that it was running, did 3000kms then sold it to make way for the turbo :)

if i am understanding your description of the two options you're considering, i'd say go with the first option.

however, if you want a more "professional" opinion, i'd browse the single turbo forum and find a knowledgable source. off the top of my head, you can seek advice from 1Revvin7, Jason, Enzo250, ErnieT and a host of others. perhaps try writing a PM to one of them.

good luck.

To avoid boost creep I would take the wastegate runners off of the long radius of the second bend from the engine on each runner and merge them to the wastegate.

yea thats wat i was thinking, except have the pipes carrying on forward with the second bends and have the wastegate inbetween the top and bottom radiator hoses up by the radiator. Of course there will be clearance so they dont melt etc. Am going to mock something up this week so will post some pics.

Cheers for your thoughts fullas :)

So does your turbine manifold have a divided flange or an undivided flange?

What hub and disc rotor did you fit up to the series 3 strut to suit the 4 spots
