13BREW kit in the works...

Cozmo Kraemer's FD kit in the works. There is still a lot left to do, like wastegate runners, hard lined cooling lines, muffled midpipe, and coating everything included the LIM. I'll post completed pictures once its done.

For some reason those pictures didn't get posted in order, 1st and the 3rd one should be flip flopped.

looks tits
elliot, ze coating master! |
Lookin good, Elliot!
|
as always, looks pretty sweet, Elliot. :)
|
Amazing work as always.
Looks pretty tight between the hotside and LIM? Or is it just an illusion due to the angle of the photo -Jacob |
Its tighter than I wanted it to be, should have tilted the turbo flange a little more. however I would rather have the downpipe in that position than the turbin in the vicinity of the intake manifold.
Thanks for the compliments guys. |

Thats just a To4E 57 trim I'm using for mock up. We're going to use the engine dyno to figure out what turbo works best for this motor/setup.

I am definately anxious to see the results! |
Hardlines, and downpipe finished. Waiting for the RB flange to get in to finish his Borla midpipe. Tial 44mm vband wastegate going in shortly...

looks really good elliot

Beautiful work.
|
damn bro, that's coming along. When's the dyno-date
|
yeah...when's the dyno date?? ;)
Looks really good! |
looks very nice Elliot, I'm very impressed in your work. Looks like the hardlines are catching on? Ill get some pictures posted in the 2nd gen section here shortly....after my mouth doesn't hurt anymore.
|
Few quick shots of the rest of the exhaust...

http://www.nopistons.com/forums/gall...0_42_17604.jpg Is that a Countach and a Miura in the background? |
very nice, would love to see the finished product and some dyno numbers.
|
looks like a Pantera to me in the background. now the miura idk.
|
They are both Lambos the black one is an older Countach. The green one is a rare four seater. I forget the exact name...has a pretty sweet v12 though...
Elliot, So now the exhaust is totally done? Or do you still have to finish the wastegate runners? What is left to do? Looks like we are getting close...light at the end of the tunnel perhaps??!!? |

Hopefully this weekend I can wrap up your runners, get things out to be coated, and get your engine on the dyno and maybe let you actually drive this car. I know talk is cheap, but for what its worth; we are doing our best to make sure everthing is done right this time, for the last time.... |
Wow! you guys really do some awesome work.

I received the battery relocation supplies, I am just waiting on the sealed battery. What does your schedule look like on Saturday? Send me an email... |
Wastegate Runners Done. Now to reroute discharge and heatshield the LIM..

He is going to have boost control issues!
|
A setup that pretty deserves a GZ LIM ;)

Rich, didn't go for the GZM lim, but I did slap a RZ Lim on :) |
I will leave it in your hands...The RZ LIM is pretty nice! A great halfway point between the OE setup and the GZ LIM.
I got the steering rack back from Maval. They do an excellent job!! I also got new outter tie rod ends so it should be nice when it goes in. The Aquamist HFS-5 should be here on Friday...and I really hope it does get here by then because I want to bring it all up to you on Saturday. Oh...and I got in on those floormats in the classified section and they are SWEET! Very much worth the $125! Lots of stuff to bring up there....again... |

It is the OE manifold without the vacuum nipples I think it was a year 2000 JDM addition. There are some other modifications to it too I think...
Elliot would have to post a picture |
Subframe is hiding the flex bellow. Going to make a steel gaurd to protect the w/g nipple...

So is everything now gone to the coater? What sort of time frame we lookin at for final assembly?
I wish I would have taken before pictures of all the phases...suspension, motor mounts, diff mounts, PPF, wheels/tires, exhaust, interior, engine, the turbo system...etc..etc. It has been quite a transformation. I know we could do the after pictures as things come together in the next couple of weeks. But I really wish I had before pictures. Damn! |
Just finished welding the DP. Tommorrow everything leaves except the LIM. I'm going to slap it in the mill and shave off the emissions crap, since I have to do someone else's for a 4" DP. Probably 2 weeks until the engine dyno. Oh your manual rack and the rest of the front end is together...
|
DAMN!! that wastegate looks like it belongs there!!
I wish Peoria, AZ was closer because you'd have another FD in the backlog...nice work |

I just want some more room for the LIM heatshield. You need airspace for heatshields to work. I don't plan on modifying the intake runners, just chopping off the buldging emissions crap. Hopefully the LIM isn't made from the worst AL alloys like the rest of asian metals....
|
I will post a better shot of the downpipe and manifold since elliot sent it to me earlier in the day and I am a little bored at the moment...

Looking NICE! This is THE sexiest FC I've seen
You should post up some pics of the interior conversion and battery relocation. |
I haven't been up there in awhile so I don't have pictures. I have the water injection kit at my house and that thing is pretty complex. I was going to take it up to Elliot this weekend but he is going to be in Vegas for a drag racing event. So it looks like next weekend I will have to take it up there.
The parts from the turbo system come back from the coater, probably the week of April 9th...so maybe I will have a fully completed engine by the end of that week. I have no idea. I would really like to take a bunch of pictures of everything I have changed while the car is up there and I have access to a lift...but I am more than a month from completion so no need to get hopes high yet... Oh...and I have an FD! ;) |

^good info, I wasn't aware of that. I wouldn't consider these WG runners "close" to the engine though...looks about half way on some optimum length runners [to the turbo]

so a bigger downpipe will make it harder to control boost?
The reason i ask is because i went with a 4in DP on my setup b/c i was thinking less back pressure on the turbine was ideal.

Setzep would know ;) I think he may have some issues at lower boost levels for the reasons he just mentioned, but we'll just have to wait and see. Sometimes your stuck working with what you have as far as space and design are concerned.
I'm not sure if I'm following you Brian but if your referring to the 3"-4" transition off the back of the turbine that has been shown to reduce the pressure on the back of the turbine and promote quicker response. I guess depending on the circumstances that in itself could lead to boost control issues. -S- |
