I just sent these same wheels back to jegs. I didnt like the idea of running spacers and grinding the calipers. I am going to look into have some wheels custom made.. But they look very nice!

Did you get the EXACT backspacing that I got? The fronts shouldn't need any spacers as long as you run wider front fenders like I am. Also the rear should only need slight grinding on the caliper, no biggie. Let me know.

If you are running wider fenders then that makes a differance. So is is a 42r or a 47? You list both.

So, my fuel cell FINALLY shipped out yesterday. I should get it next week and HTP (High Tuned Performance in St. Louis, MO) will complete the work so I can pick it back up on the trailer. I had the Pettit Racing rear flares but I ended up returning them because my uncle said they would crack. He said they would eventually crack because of body flex cause by hard launching at the dragstrip. It sucks because I really wanted to use them. I was going to have them molded in along with my Shine Auto Project Burnout style sideskirts. I ended up getting a set of mild steel burnout rear flares so they can be welded on. My uncle said they will be much more durable and that the Pettit Racing rear flares looked to be designed more for show cars. They aren't quite as wide as the Pettit Racing rear flares but my uncle might be able to modify them to clear my wide rear wheels/tires. I will find out as soon as I get my car back from the shop.

So, my fuel cell setup is finally close to being complete. Here are some pictures of the progress. Again the 14 gallon cell will be used for pump gas and the 5 gallon cell will be used for methanol.

5 gallon methanol cell

Both fuel cells in the rear of the car.

Got the car back from HTP tonight. Matt, the owner, will send me some more past progress pictures on monday but here are some of the finished work. It looks to be very well made. Best of all is that its NHRA legal. I would definately recommend him to anyone in the St. Louis area. I just wish it would have taken the 6 week quote and not 6 months but some of that time was due to waiting on RCI forever.

Wheel fitment:

So fitting the wheels is a total PITA. The rear wheels need about a 1/4" spacer to keep them from rubbing the front of the caliper. The calipers were ground down and the tow link nut was shaved for clearance. The wheels stick out of the fenders alot but with the burnout rear flares it will be close. I am going to have my body guy look at it tomorrow and see what he thinks. At this point in time I am going to keep the wheels and modify the body to make them work if I need to because that will be easier/cheaper.

Before:

NOTE: The following pics of the wheels are NOT mounted on the car 100%. There are gaps behind them because of the calipers/toe link nut interfering with the wheels. Also, the wheel weights had to be removed.

The rear wheels are mounted in the following pictures. I used a few washers on each stud because I didnt order spacers. I will order them soon but the washers are there just to simulate the 1/4" spacers. The fitment is super tight all around.

The front wheels had major work done to make them fit too. The "Mazda" logo was ground off of the front calipers and washers were used to simulate a 3/8" spacer. So I need to order a pair of 3/8" spacers for the front and 1/4" spacers for the rear.
