Rotorfest 2008 "FREE" "FREE" "FREE"

I just got off the phone with the peaple at Eisenhour Park ( http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/agenci...senhower.html# )

I explained to them that we were hosed by ouy event host (event *****) and we might consider having it at Eisenhour Park. I also told her about 250 people and we would need parking for all of their cars.

Their registration opens on Feb 4 2008 at 9:00 am which I will go to and wait on the 4 hour line to book it.

THIS WILL BE A FREE EVENT! I myself will foot the bill for the park and parking.

THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE TO GET IN. IT WILL BE FREE TO PARTICIPATE. IT WILL NOT COST YOU ANYTHING TO COME.

I dont know of any other way to explain it. Of course there will be a charge for food.

Now there is no dragstrip but do we really care? The park is nice and people can bring their kids and stuff maybe get the 1st annual Rotorfest baseball game or something.

This is just an idea, you guys have the final say in what happens and if this idea is a no go then let me know and I will **** can it.

I hope to have Jason (NYRA) and John (CTRA) helping put this all together if it is what you guys want.

Please post any ideas and suggestions.

It'd be nice if we could just have a re-deux of the 2007 rotorfest. I'd actually attend.

the original rotorfest was free, then people driving in and out of the park it was held at got us kicked out because they had no respect for thier surroundings.

We were asked not to return.

The same will happen again because all you need is a handfull of people who have no respect to ruin it for everyone else.

well rob, i have meets at parks and we always have a few peopl that wild out. So i curb the attendess from doing anything that will get us kicked out (except for valley stream lol)

So for the most part everyone has to behave.

For the NEW event, yes we will have a sit down about this. Let me gather more info and get a lil presentation ready for you guys to review, comment , add or delete on. Just waiting to get some more info back from the groups i have contacted =)

There are other groups who have free (or reasonable cost) ANNUAL events without members acting foolishly. Why would this plague rotorfest in the future if it were free?

im just offering the history of rotorfest as some of you may not be entirely familiar with how it had grown.

First place- got too small, had nice BBQ area, nice covered area to sit and eat, the parkinglot was paved and very spread out.

that place was too small.

2nd place was GREAT! nice bathrooms, nice BBQ areas, there was places the family could get away from the car crap, kids could play, etc..
Then a few things happened there- one was a certain group of people drag racing up and down the back road, there was even some mention of people with thier kids having to get out of the way.

There was also bathrooms getting vandalized, then on the way out people drove crazy through the park.

Rotorfest was asked not to return.

Dont get upset with me for giving the history, I am just telling you what you will be up against.
It wont be the people who you meet with a few times a year who will ruin it, it will be those who show up that one time and dont care about anyone else.

I used to bring salads, drinks, coolers, 10x10 tent, chairs, etc.. to help out with the event.

You need to form a small group of people to which you can rely on each other to organize everything, take suggestions from people and volunteers for the day, but if you let too many people plan it will turn into a mess.

rotorfest so cant go to NY, you guys have plenty of your own areas and meets.

I can get it back at the Sussex County Fairgrounds, I know a few people, thats the place rob was talking about being Great until the 3 rotor rx8 ruined it by trying to run over little kids and some idiots broke the bathrooms.

It was also the last rotorfest i ever attended.

Hell maybe ill just make my own meet there, ive got spare time. ill drive my evo up there.

The fairgrounds were nice. Fun drive too. All I know is there were about 7 of us ripping down a 1 lane curvy backroad to get there.

I really don't think this should be a free event. We all want a good event and want to park our cars and bring our friends and family, why should we get in for free and have one person foot the bill?

I don't care if its $60 to get in, as long as the money is going TO the expenses of the event, I will pay without question.

To you and others that do the same, I really hope there are no residential housing around there, you don't need to be in drift or slide and hit a dog or kid chasing a ball. Please drive safe.

Rotorfest was asked not to return.
This is exactly what we don't want to have happen due to above.

if you guys want to start an anual BBQ, meet on the scale of rotorfest thats cool, I'll make sure to attend, i do however have a problem with you guys using the name rotorfest.

ive been at every rotorfest except the first and i know how much work jay and vosko put into organising it. Rotorfest is thier event, if you want to start your own BIG rotary meet, GREAT! but it will have to be called something other than rotorfest, and prefarably not on the same date. i will be at next years rotorfest as im sure many other ppl here will be too. have your meet in eisenhower park or anywhere else on a non conflicting day and ill be at both events with a bunch of other rotorheads

Yeah no thanks. I've been to evo meets and it's just like being at the Mitsubishi dealership! Same thing goes for the subaru meets.

Never thought a honda civic would be the outcast of the local car meets

More power to you if you want to keep the rotorfest name out there but i dont think thats a wise idea, its done kid. If you want to hold your own event more power to you. Good luck kid

ROTORSTOCK

I am gonna give my contacts at Ford & Mazda N.A. a call today and see if they will offer us up some land, they do it for the west coast guys.

I know that Ford has their North east HQ in Mahwah NJ at a big hotel. We go there for our new car introduction training. If Mazda N.A. is in the same hotel I might be able to pull some strings to let us have the event there. Plenty of room to roam and vendors and a dyno and no noise restrictions.....

sussex county is woods, fields, and some more woods. seriously.

just read the last post in the topic, that big hotel I think is the sheraton which is on rt. 17 we could have a bbq there and then rent out V-17 which is down the highway a bit, have a nice cruise to V-17 and then race crazy carts all night. plus it would be more of a family thing.

i really liked lake hiawata nj that where RF 1 & 2 were held but guy were peeling out so they asked us not to come back because we were not the only people in the park, and we only paid to eat as far as i remember, sussex fairground was cool we were the only ones there and there was plenty of room to play ball or something but i remember that rx8 3rotor gave someone a ride on the grounds not sure if he almost ran someone over but places like that is great,i've been to all RF's except RF#2
