I may be the minority here but I am not feeling the multi color/texture theme... Makes it look cheap. Would have looked cleaner if you just used one color and material. Way too busy with perforated leather, suede, red strip, and red leather. The discrepency of texture of the airbag to the rest of the steering wheel also doesn't help. Looks like you just checked everything on the dimsum order sheet. Stitching can also be done better. Good effort but lacks refinement.

I have to agree with you on that. But I guess everyone has their own preferences. However regardless of colors and types of leather/alcantara used, the airbag cover will never truly match the rest of the wheel because its age. There will always be a discrepency between new material used and the old airbag cover. This is what bothers me about doing this. I will eventually redo my '99 spec wheel, but wondering what could be done to "refresh" the aged airbag cover to better match the color of the new leather?

Try these guys. Fibrenew Leather Repair, Plastic, Vinyl, Fabric Restoration

Had them repair some of the interior parts of my e46 M3 and they matched the textures of my interior parts pretty well. Not perfect but most people couldn't tell my door panels have been repaired. I am sure they could do something similar with the old airbag.

Looks better in person But the best part is that it feels great to hold.

I plan to do some deep cleaning on the airbag and maybe use Mother's back to clack or something of the sorts to renew the color.
