More shitty news. Just talked to Edwin at DNR. He wants 150/hr now. I said "you already quoted me 130" and he says"well you decided to shop around, so now i want 150". I tell him I already told a bunch of guys you would do it for 130... he says "it is what it is".

I pretty much dont want to go to this guy just for the principle. Im calling around right now but im not having any luck.

Are you guys willing to drive a ways, like say the central valley or vallejo area? Let me know because theres more dyno shops out there.

Ok so i found one that might be a winner, but you bay area guys are going to have to drive.

SS Auto in Manteca says theyll do us 100/hr, and theyre avalibility looks good. We'll be saving 100 bucks right off the bat (not including the gas money youll have to use to come out).

Everyone please let me know if this works for you ASAP. I know Angel is probably cool with it because he lives out here in the central valley. LMK

Sucks DNR would pull that BS. I'd prefer something in the bay area. What about Tech 3 in San Jose? Looks like the last group used them and it looks like they paid $150 hr. I'm up for whatever works for everyone. Just as long we go to a place that's trustworthy with a reliable dyno.

Tech 3 was who I was planning on going with in the first place. Called them to confirm and the owner stated he didn't want to do it again because it wasn't worth it to him last time. They were actually charging 150 PER CAR, not per hour, so yeah they were my first choice. Phong and Steve Kan even tried calling and seeing what they could do and no dice, new ownership apparently.

I've tried my best to keep it in the bay, but after calling every dyno shop twice, it's looking like SS may be our best bet, especially at 100 an hour. I've tuned there before so I know they're legit, and they're willing to open up on Saturday and Sunday for us.

Tech 3 was a friendly shop, but the unvented dyno was a KILLER by the end of the day! No issue driving from me.

 

Deposit sent. Why don't we just ask if Tec3 will do it for $200/car since it's the same as paying $100/hr because it takes 2 hrs? I'd prefer doing it in SJ but will do the other spot if that's our only choice.

Bro, I have no problem doing that for you, and I will first thing tomorrow. But keep in mind that 200 per car is still super cheap, and its highly unlikely they'll do it. I was trying to use Tech 3 in the first place, but the new owner didn't want anything to do with it this time. Steve Kan and Phong (Insomniac, set up the kan tune a few months ago) both tried for us but the new owner wasn't having it.

This will be the 3rd time I've called them. This time I'll ask "what will it take for you to let us tune there". But also if you read what shpnout just posted, he says there dyno is invented and was giving them a hard time. Maybe the money isn't worth their dyno getting destroyed, I dunno. But I will call them tomorrow.

So, on a different note. We now have the 6 deposits to get Steve out here. I will be contacting him as soon as I finish this post. I will let him know were going to try to contact Tech 3 once more, and if they're not having it, well do it at SS Auto in Manteca. Also on a side note, SS auto has availability the first 2 weekends in March, and the last 3 weekends in April. The first 2 weekends in march work for me, but if anyone needs to wait until the end of april, let me know and we can wait til then.

All, Ive spoken to a few of you and it seems like we need a little more time than a month. With that being said, and JP being unavailable the mid weekends of april, im goin to shoot for April 29th/30th. Going to confirm with steve after i talk to tech 3 today and/or ss auto.

I called tech 3 today. The owner was not there. I filled in the guy who answered the phone. Basically told him the situation, and that we wanted to see what would be fair for him to let us tune there, if he was even interested at all. He said hed text him and took down my number. That was around noon. Never received a phone call back.

Alright guys,

First thing, If we cant get into SS Auto by March 18th/19th, we'll have to wait until Mid May to tune. This is due to Ours, Steve, and SS Autos schedules conflicting. SS Auto is very busy with races the next couple weekends, and one of our guys cant do 2 weekends in April. I dont really want to wait until May, so I need to know if all of you will be ready before next Friday, the 17th. Steve needs at least 4 weeks advance notice. With that being said, I talked to SS Auto today. Apparently they have moved from Manteca to Modesto, which is 10 miles farther for you Bay Area guys.

ALSO,

Theres this option; I BELIEVE Turbo Hoses in Livermore has a lot more open schedule. BUT, the difference is they charge 165/hr. which is approximately $330 dollars for dyno time, compared to $200 at SS Auto. Less of a drive for a larger price, and also better availability dates.

SO, three things:

A) Can we all have our cars ready by March the 18th, And will we know by next Friday the 17th?

-Myself, Angel, and Chard are on track for this, need to hear from you other three.

B) Are we willing to drive the extra 10 miles since SS Auto moved to Modesto?

-Need to know from the 4 of you in the bay area. Myself and Angel are from the central valley so this is not a problem.

C) Do we just want to drop SS Auto, and go with Turbo Hoses and pay the extra money?

-Myself, Angel, and Chard are also for this option if we cant make the 18th, because nobody wants to wait 3 months for a tune... well i know i dont anyways.

Pretty sure March 18th is going to be hard for me to make. I'm getting some stuff sent from Japan. Who knows how long that could take.

 

UPDATE:

As of right now, it's not looking like were going to make March 18th.

With that being said, Chard is looking into some other options with other dyno shops.

If that falls through, were still scheduled to be at SS Auto on May 6th/7th.

If we dont find a better option by April 6th/7th, im going to pencil it in with steve for May 6th/7th.
