I've got a re-amemiya front end with the dual round headlights.
I got this back in '03, so the relay that came with it is rusted out and no longer working. I'm attempting to wire up relays myself.
The several wiring diagrams that I have found have the 2 signal wires and 1 ground going to the Low Beam lamp..similar to this ..


My lamps have only 2 wires. I have tried bridging the 2 power wires coming from the high and low relays, but that doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know how to wire up high/low beams with 2 wire lamps?
(need the low beams to work on low and both low and high beams to work on high).

 

These headlights don't have a ground wire thus a wire for low beam and a wire for high beam?

 

Couldnt you just connect the red and green together on the High/Lows? Do the lamps have dual filaments? If not you could also use 1 lamp for lows and 1 for highs.

 

They probably need to be set up like this.

 

I've always thought that if you have 4 lights, all 4 need to be on when activating the high beams. I'm able to wire them up so that 1 lamp powers the lows an 1 powers the highs(2 on at a time).
Wld I be able to pass inspection with them operating this way?

To be honest, I just need to pass inspection. (these lights never provided good lighting so I'll be installing hid driving lights down below so that I can actually see at night).

 

I just cut the wires from one of my headlight harnesses and took the wires that would normally turn on the headlight and used them to trigger the relays. I have this front end on my car (or at least I will) and I have it all wired up now.

I bought the front end from misterstyx69 and he had it wired up on his car, so he may be able to throw his 2 cents in here as I used his wiring for the most part!!

 

Are the lamp bulbs a higher wattage than the factory sealed lamp? If not, you shouldn't need a relay; and if that's the case, AND you need to have the low beam on WHILE on high beams, then you will need a relay and a diode.

By the way you do not want to start screwing with the old RX wiring and try to power headlights that are sucking more juice than the old ones.
It will fry the switch..and the harness..and yer brain!
Using the headlight connector to power the relay actually draws less than the original headlight,so it is a safe way to get the lights to work off the stock switch.
