There are two metal sensors side by side just behind the front pulley at about 2 o'clock.

You mean the eccentric shaft angle sensors? Damon, I'm soo disappointed you didnt correct him, lol!

Actually, Mazda refers to them as Crank Angle Sensors (FSM page F-180).

In the picture below, you can see that the pulley has been removed from the front hub. The CAS's are the two small cylindrical looking things just above and to the right of this hub (exactly how Damon described).
