FD3S: Mazdaspeed 99 spec replica front lip. Coming soon.
2 Attachment(s)
After years of searching, we were finally able to source a lip from Japan to replicate off of. The 99 Spec Mazdaspeed lip is extremely rare and has been discontinued for nearly a decade. We're in the process of finishing up the mold and should be offering these for sale soon.
Hybrid FRP (flexible fiberglass). $350. Carbon Fiber (Choose between Plain or Twill weave Carbon) $550. *Original Mazdapeed lip was made in Plain Weave Carbon-Kevlar (Choose between Plain or Twill weave). Carbon-Kevlar is a hybrid fabric of carbon (black strands) and kevlar (yellow strands). $650. Shipping is $65 to the lower 48 states. First come first serve. Ken |
150% I'm in for this in plain weave soon as it's ready!!!
|
Will this fit to the old '92 face front bumper? I guess not, right?
|
99 spec lips aren't designed to fit on pre-99 front bumpers, but many do force fit 99 spec lips onto their pre-89 bumpers. The bumpers are flexible and so is the original 99 spec lip (2 piece lip). Having said that, it is still not a perfect fit, but to some it gets by. It will be hard to say how well this would fit on a pre-99 bumper.
Ken |
Oh, i'm definitely in on this one. Getting the lip will help push me to do the 99 spec conversion.
|
I have a 99 lip on my s6 bumper and it looks great. It's hard to tell they don't naturally come this way.
|
I'm all in as well, will the thread be updated once they're available?
|
It's so nice to see new addition coming soon to the FD line up, anything for the FC line up on the way? Perhaps a FC3S: Aero Parts Part II thread?

absolutely :). I'll update when the mold is done and the first part is made. Then it will be first come first serve. Production rate is about 1 every 1.5 weeks for a carbon version. 1 every 1 week for a Hybrid FRP version.

This lip came on one of the CYMs that I bought and I loved it----nice aggressive touch to the front of the '99 spec bumper :icon_tup:
|
Hope to purchase this over the winter
|
This looks great! Is there a chance we can see a side by side comparison vs the standard 99 spec lip?
Thanks in advance! |
I have the exact same one ! And I love it !!
One of the parts that gets the most compliments!! Good job doing this :icon_tup: :icon_tup: :icon_tup: |

Am I missing something here?
Is this a replica of the 99 spec lip? Or is this a one-piece Mazdaspeed 99+ lip? |

found a picture from the side, I assume this is the same one? Just out of curiosity does this lip hang much lower than the other 99 lip?
|
Do you have any pictures of the finished product in cf? It appears to be available but I haven't seen the pictures of it. Just trying to envision it on the car for a future build.

This product is not yet available. We're half way through the mold making process. I will definitely post pics of the lip when we're done. This is a bit lower than the 99 spec lip. It has a more aggressive look. |
Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely interested in this lip as I completes the looks and function I'm sure better on the 99spec bumper. I look forward to doing business with you guys in the future.

BTW is that fd owned by someone at your company? Vr is personally my favorite rx7 color and it's similar to what my plans are. Sexy.

Ok maybe I can find more pictures in the gallery of this and the one with it in the first page. Although I currently don't own an fd I have in the past including an R1 both in vr in addition to a 84 gsl, 87 Tll and a grand touring Rx8. I'm planning on pulling the trigger on another fd in a few months I hope lol.

Thanks appreciate that. I tend to look at pictures for ideas and build the car in my head in numerous variations, gather all the prices, part numbers and vendors, compile a list and hit the ground running when I'm ready and know where I'm going. Yes it's unorthodox but I'm quirky that way lol and have done with all my rx's.

Cool story, bro.
|
Mold is 80% complete.
|
Mold is 100% complete. First lip will be done in 2 weeks.

There goes my wallet

I apologize for the late reply. We built our first lip in Hybrid FRP about 3 weeks ago and a customer wanted it ASAP. We only had an opportunity to snap a few quick cell phone pics. I will attach those pics.
Another customer ordered one in Twill Weave carbon. It will be our first carbon version and I am hoping it turns out well. This is indeed a tricky lip to build in carbon. I will post pics of it as soon as we are done. I have another customer who ordered one in Twill weave Carbon-Kevlar. That will be interesting as well. I guess we are taking orders now if you guys are ready. |

Lip shown in Twill Weave Carbon. Original Mazdaspeed lip was only offered in Plain Weave Carbon. I believe we have another order in twill weave and then one order in plain weave. We will continue to post different variations as we continue to build them.
