do you have any pics of the rear bumper mating to the rear quarter panels? Did you mold it in? if not, is there a gap between the rear bumper and quarter panels? thanks

Those wheel sizes are too narrow for those tire sizes. Ideally (if you want to do 255/35 and 285/30), you'd want an 8.5/9" up front, and a 10" in the rear.

that black fd with the kit is so sexy wow *grabs towel*

wptrx7 02-22-07 07:07 AM

Twinnos 03-03-07 08:53 PM

what are the names and sizes of those rims and what offsets are they? that paint is hott!

Aeka GSR 03-04-07 10:51 AM

18x10 +12 Gram Lights. I may have to do something about the front, it may be pushed out too far and I may have some scrub radius issues. I got them stupidly cheap.

str8ryd 03-04-07 10:55 AM

Do you mind saying what "stupidely cheap" comes out to exactly? I'm looking to purchase new wheels soon and I'm shopping around right now. Any details are appreciated!

c00lduke 03-04-07 11:04 AM

What is the widest tire/rim combo that one would be able to fit in the rear?

+1 Define stupidly cheap. Did you buy them new from a store, or just get lucky from a member?
Thanks

Twinnos 03-05-07 10:47 AM

if +12 too deep for the front does that mean +11 would be better or +13, i always wanted to know what the +'s mean in relation to depth.

wptrx7 03-05-07 10:51 AM

Basically: The lower the # the farther it stick out

Aeka GSR 03-05-07 02:40 PM

got them from a friend, they were supposed to go on his 510 but he sold it. The rims sat for a year, brand new, in the box. I got them for 1400.

the lower the number the more they are pushed out. I won't really know how well they will fit until i get the front end loaded and the camber adjusted.

Twinnos 03-05-07 03:00 PM

so for the front a +13 would be better as not to scrub?

Aeka GSR 03-05-07 08:11 PM

I think a +20's somewhere is where you want to be for the scrub on that width. I'm not concerend too much about the scrub radius, it is mainly just how far they are sticking out from the fender. They arent protruding, but I would imagine I'll have to roll the camber in a bit.

And in 6 months you will grow tired of them and sell it to wptrx7 for 1400? So please keep those pretty wheels in good condition, I am going to need them, LOL!

Luigi

wptrx7 03-30-07 11:19 AM

Did you say soon? Did you get your front bumper fixed/replaced?

tictakman 03-31-07 05:26 PM

goparts?, did u have someone mount the kit for u? i kinda did a test fit and it looks like more than what i want to tackle myself. Ill be painting mine red...i think thats the first.

Zak

gotparts? 04-02-07 12:02 PM

yea i got someone to do the body work and mount the kit. the car was originally white :) original car color was black. so i switched it back to black with pearl in it. the body shop said out of 1-10 on the kit, was a 9.5. barely had to do anything to get it to fit.

Full Burnout Kit from Shine Auto - ready to spray ;-)

Will be fully done on Tuesday next week.

Holes filled in for front indicators, for rear bumper side lights, and for boot keyhole.

New mirrors (with indicators), front wings merged into front bumper. Took 2 days to merge rear arches in but they now look like they're standard (am really happy with them). Have also got 99 spec lights to go on back.

Paint is gonna be VW Metallic Diamond Black with Pearl Effect (with lots of layers of extra lacquer for that 'wet' look ;-)

Keeping original front lights for standard look (may invest in twin light flip-ups)

:-)

wptrx7 04-05-07 03:45 PM

Did the shop say you may have problems with the molded rear fender flares after a few years or hard driving? I am asking there opinion

RX7Hunter 04-06-07 05:30 AM

Hey, no, not at all.

Their only concern was that my car is so low and the 18's mean that if I go over a bump I take out my front wings, which means taking out front wings, front bumper and probably the side skirts (since they're all moulded together into 1).

As far as the rear arches are concerned there's way more room, and they haven't mentioned any issue regarding wear and tear (or hard driving etc).

Took so many layers and so much sanding back to get the rear flares merged in perfectly but it's definitely worth it.

Will post pics of final product on Tuesday :-)

RX7Hunter 04-10-07 05:09 PM

Not quite ready yet, but here's a preview...
