FD- Carbon Fiber interior plastics - GB Interest
Is it possible to make all of the plastic interior pieces for the dash (Instrument panel, accesories panel, shifter panel, arm rest panel) as a carbon fiber replacement?
A lot of our cars are aging and those pieces didn't exactly age gracefully. I'm sure there would be a huge market from FD owners looking to replace their interiors :D |
I'am intrested in this group buy, but I would want to see some pic's.
|
I'm in if someone sold a full kit at a good price
|
Just send in your pieces to be wrapped, would be more economical. Be sure to send in the connecting pieces all at once and ask that the patterns line up.
|
I would definately be interested, I dont like the idea of sending my parts to someone unknown. I have had experience with Ken, and would definately do business again with him if he offered these.
|
Most definately, if Ken it's up for it I'll pm him with this thread.
|
Yeah, i actually have some extra cash laying around for this! And if Shine goes through with this they are going to take all from me :D
EDIT: The reason i want to do this is because the interior pieces look brittle. I'm sure if they make a bolt in kit it would look better than stock and cost less/equal to buying the interior pieces from MAZDA! |
Direct replacements would be really nice, I would definately be intrested if the price was reasonable.
|
+1 id also be interested
this is such a good idea 93 rx7s interiors are garbage |
Bump.
|
Just pm'ed Ken with this thread again..
|
id be interested as well. would be another shine addition to the FD
|
i'd be up for it!
|
Yes, but..
I could be interested, but I am not so sure I'd like all that cloth pattern and the shine that goes with it in my car...
I kind of like the idea of having some parts, like centre console, Gauge cluster section, hood and door inserts done, but... FYI, Seibon makes replacements for the doors in CF. I was just snooping around their site today and saw them. They come in one piece and they seem to be direct replacement for the stock. If weight wasn't an issue, I'd like to see the rest of the car (door panels and rest of dash, rear and what not), done in black leather. With CF inserts for the other pieces... But I'd like to see a price.... |
Guess I'll start . . .
1. apex_sideway |
2.tito2

3. puz pounda!!!

This is looking promising :D

Hey guys i'm just in the process of making a kit to do all the interior plastics in complete CF. So far we're going to replicate:
*The radio surround fascia *The entire centre console *The instrument cluster 'hump' *The plastic inserts that are in the door panels. In another month, the kit will be ready for retail, but dont know about pricing yet.. I'm trialling the whole CF interior in my R1 at the moment. PM me if you're at all interested. |
Any pic's?^^^^

I'm currently working in conjuction with PSI Parts to replicate as much carbon components as possible. As of today, the list of parts which PSI intend to replicate is growing.. Interior as well as exterior. Head on over to www.psiparts.com.au to see some of the carbon work Shane & team are capable of.. I'm donating interior parts to PSI for use in molding & then testing the prototypes on my R1. So far we're brainstorming:
Exterior doorhandles (are aluminium, so they would need an overlay kit, not replicating) Plastic insert trim on the insides of the doors (power window buttons surround, etc) The oil cooler hot air vents on either side front fender (scoop inserts behind the wheels) In the rear of the car there is a strut brace between the rear shock towers. The end caps on each end of it would look good. The triangular corner pieces in the side windows, near the rear view mirrors All the triangular pieces around the side window glasses (interior and exterior) The passenger’s side kick panel, which hides the ECU. Plus drivers side kick panel.. Door entry sill plates The ‘hump’ which has all the dash instruments in it. Either the front instrument face or the whole hump, pending how difficult that would be.. The entire center console. RE brake light cover Cooling Panel Front and rear Diffusers Twin headlight conversion (pop-up) Twin headlight conversion (non pop-up) ST Hood Would love to try this out. Mirrors KD-I Type II Canards Hatch Full Doors plenum/engine cover Is this what you guys want? Any more ideas, mail me: matthew.algie@hydro.com.au & I'll investigate them. :) |

No offense meant, but do you have anything to back yourself up? You don't exactly have many posts on the forum and I, personally, would feel much more comfortable going with Ken. Everyone has worked with him, we know the quality of his stuff and don't have to worry about him skipping town with a large chunk of change for a GB.
