I would really like to utilize both boost settings (low and high) on my Greddy controller. Would it be possible to tune to the safest maximum boost on pump gas for the low setting and boost beyond that on race fuel for the high setting? My goal is to have a very streetable 400 whp and a smooth low RPM cruiser. |

Tuning
Hey Guys,
I'm going to fly into HSV on Feb. 27th. mid afternoon, and will be leaving the evening of the 28th. Here are some general tuning cost figures. $350 - Stock Turbo up to 12psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map $400 - Single Turbo up to 15psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map $450 - Single Turbo from 16psi - 23psi of boost (race gas and/or auxiliary injection only) 1 map $600 -Single Turbo high boost 23-40psi of boost (race gas map and pump gas mapping) 2 maps This is only the cost for the tuning and does not include the dyno rental time. On all tuning sessions there is a Non-refundable $200 deposit. I will bring some basic tools, but please keep in mind that we have a limited amount of time to work with. If your tuning session becomes more of a repair session we will have to move on to the next car, so please go over the basics on your car (spark plugs, oil, fuel filters, boost controller etc..) If we run out of time on the 28th, and your car does not make it into the tuning session I will refund your deposit. We need a minimum of 6 cars for this to happen. Please send your deposit via Paypal to raydwilson@aol.com With your deposit please include all of your contact information, also list vehicle mods and what your target goals are. -Ray |

Are these your standard tuning categories and fees because I'm not sure which one my car would fall under? Are you incorporating any flexibility within your tunes? For some reason I thought your tuning and fees would be on a per car basis. Also, why have you set a 12psi limit on stock twins.
Don, As discussed earlier I think 12psi is what most stock twin guys tune for. I am sure if you ask Ray to tune for 15psi or so he will but race gas is strongly suggested above that as the twins do produce more heat than a single set up. What is your goal on pump? I know 400 on race gas..... |

I was thinking maybe 15psi or as high as Ray feels comfortable on pump gas.

The 12psi is a standard level for me on stock twins, if you would like to run higher boost you can as the mapping will be calculated to max out the stock MAP sensor. Just keep in mind that charge efficiency dramatically declines over 320rwhp with the stock twins.
BTW I may try to come hang out as long as nothing comes up. Hopefully my car will be back together and that would be a good 200mi or so toward the break in for it. |

I'm confused what you are saying. The stock MAP sensor is good up to around 17psi. And sorry to get off topic.

I believe what Ray is saying is even if he just tuned for 12psi he would continue a scale all the way thru the full n20-p20. So if one did spike on a cold night he would be ok. BTW Don is running a 3 bar so thats not an issue.. |

twins
Its about compressor effeciency. Most modern turbos operate in the +70% range. The stock twins turn into heat pumps after 12psi. Even with 99-spec twins they are in-effecient at higher boost levels. Even at 70% the heat is dramatic at 17psi since there is more heat created exponentially as boost levels go up. Most singles find there sweet spot and that is great. Hot air will pop a rotary faster than a speeding bullet.
