Ren, we are closed tommorow, but I can meet up with you when you get into town.

Dana has my number, so he and I will be in contact...I also just talked to HondaSlaya and gave him my number, so I am sure we can meet up.

We will be at Roebling Road tommorow, if anyone else is going to be out there, say HI!

lt1_rx7 here...posting as eat-pez...

I like the idea of the Carter Race shop for the meet. Just need to find some grills and things to make more shade!!!

Hope it works out that we can do it there...

how much would the dyno pulls be?

dayton 05-18-07 08:49 PM

I Would Love To Take The Credit For This But I Can't... Fjdrx7 Told Me To Go By And Talk To Justin And See If We Could Work This Out... I Really Wish That Fjdrx7 And Javier Could Be Here For This, But As I Said Before These Guys Are Deployed Overseas And Won't Be Here For The Event... Thanks To Fdperformance And Their Relationship With Carterrace We Will End Up With A Good Place To Meet And Greet With Everyone.. And May Even Get Some Runs In At The Same Time..

darthrotary 05-18-07 08:58 PM

I Just Got A Phone Call From Paco Down In Brunswick, Ga... He Says He Will Try To Meet With Us Tomorrow As Well... More Support Is Welcome From Anyone That Wants To Try And Hook Up With Us!!!

PerkyStina 05-19-07 06:54 AM

If we can get a few grills together, we should be able to swing this. If things came down to it, we could still meet at a restaurant, then gather at the shop for fellowship... but that can be a last resort option. I picked up one of those small portable grills from Wal-Mart last summer for when a few of us went to Nopi... and that little bugger was perfect! A few of these would be fine, if we cannot get a large one.

turboren 05-19-07 11:06 AM

Yeah, that might work, since most 7's don't have enough room for a full-size grill... ;)

Not opposed to having a semi-formal dinner somewhere, though. If Golden Corral is really only $4 a person for large groups, I don't see how we can go wrong with that.

If we're still talking about July 7th/8th, I want to go but I don't know the point of putting the dyno to my RX-8. It's just stock. Still like to hang with 7s though because I plan on getting one when I'm done with my '73 RX-2 restore project that is now in week 5.

darthrotary 05-19-07 06:04 PM

come anyway, i think a rotary is a rotary, it was just the 7 that made it famous since it was the longest line of rotary's. plus i wouldnt mind seeing the 8 on a dyno. cant be as bad as some stock 1st gens right?
even though the theme is 7's on 07-07-07, i encourage all rotaries to show. any objections? we could make it a rotary rally.

That's if they are catering... which means we could set something up and we pick it up and take it to the shop and eat there if we want to do that... but we need tables and stuff, too. Might be easier to do the restaurant thing... or order a bunch of pizzas. :)

I don't intend on dynoing... mostly because both RX-7s will probably still be in "time out." We'll probably be driving the SRT-4. :p: Even if I can get the FC on the road, I already know that I'll be putting out about 110 HP (if that). My last dyno pull was at 107HP. :hah:

Carterrace Has A Place For Us To Gather And A Place For Those That Would Like To Know What Their Car Puts Down... Running A Car On The Dyno Will Also Tell A Person If There Are Some Other Problems They Might Not Have Discovered Yet, Or Areas That Could Use Improvement... It Is Also Entertainement For The Rest Of Us Rotorheads...

I agree... a dyno day will be a great opportunity for everyone... even those of us who want to watch. :) We can use it as an opportunity to learn some new things as well.

I went around to all the hotels at my exit near the airport. The cheapest I found was $69 a night but we can get a group rate if we have something like 20 or more rooms booked I have to call the manager to get the price narrowed down but it would be nice to have a exact number, if we book there it will be less than $69 which is a good price and the neighborhood is good its all new houses and stores no trash around.

CarterRace 05-25-07 08:09 AM

Hey guys,

I haven't got official word on the event from anyone on here yet, but I will say that Dyno Pulls are going to be $50.00

That includes 2 dyno runs, Wideband Air/Fuel and a printout of you graph.

Depending on the number of cars, there could be time to do some minor tuning on some cars...of course you will be responsible for having a tuneable car (AFC, Microtech, Power FC, etc)

Tuning will be 150 an hour, but if it is minor touchups on the dyno, we will work with you guys.

We look forward to meeting everyone!!

dregg100 05-25-07 08:23 AM

what kind of dyno is it?

PerkyStina 05-25-07 10:17 PM

wow... I'm so glad carterrace stepped up to the plate! This event is gonna be sweet!

David and I are probably going to just come down for the day and hang out with everyone... we really want to make 7-07-07, and don't want to miss out on hanging out with everyone. :)

turboren 05-27-07 07:23 PM

OK, folks, after meeting, brainstorming, and checking into different venues, I think we have a game plan. Some details still need to be ironed out, but the general idea of the event goes like this:

Morning: Meet at Key Mazda in Hardeeville, SC. They have plently of parking and the general manager is definitely up for it, but he wants a detailed plan of what we want, so he can bring it to Corporate. He recommended talking to some Miata club guys about this, and as sad as it is to say, he does have a point: Miata guys know how to set up events. Anyway, he has a couple rotary techs that he said would probably be interested in some sort of shop time. Freebies and/or door prizes will likely be part of the deal. Breakfast not included, but the idea of having a coffee and donut type thing was brought up. Cost: probably less than $10 per person.

Early afternoon: Cruise down Highway 17 through downtown Savannah. Meet up at Carter Race for some dyno time. Cost: $50

Late afternoon/early evening: Cruise to 5-star Family Fun for 2 hours of unlimited putt-putt golf and go-kart racing, including a room, chairs, and tables for about 25 people. Cost: $25 per person, plus cost of food. The manager said most groups order pizza or something similar. We could probably do pizza and sodas for another $5 per person, so $30 total per person.

Late evening: Ghost walk tour or something? Can probably work out some group rates on that if there are enough interested people. Cost: ??

All told, I'd say be prepared to budget about $60 per person for the day's events without dyno, and $110 total if you're going to dyno. Dyno will probably require pre-payment so that Justin has a good idea of how long he's going to be there.

How does this sound? Time is getting short, and we need to coordinate some things with the points of contact (dealer, for instance).

Does anyone this we should have a Sunday morning drive or something?

Thanks to all of you for helping make this event happen.

Ren
