OK folks, the votes are in and counted. By almost 2 to 1 over the nearest alternative, Savannah wins.

We need some volunteers to get a location and agenda set up. I'll do what I can, but since I live in VA, I won't be able to help with much.

Yay! We Have A Sticky!

Ok guys... we can get a few grills together, and grill out. That seems to be the easiest/cheapest thing I've found to work this far.

Sam's Club for the food.

Now we need a location in Savannah...

i have a grill... and there is a sams club locally...

sounds good, now where are we gonna meet? is it gonna be straight to someones house, or are we gonna drive a bit then eat?

What happend to the idea of getting a track?

not everyone is loaded like you gianny! :) we ditched that idea because if we just have a bbq then alot more people will show.

well you are alot more well off then the rst of us poor sobs that dont drive FD o wait I got one but I am broke as hell becouse of it. Any ways we need to pick a place becouse july will be here before you know it.

looking into parks with picnic/ bbq pits in the area, plenty of places to park for the meet/greet/eat session, but might be a 2$ a day parking fee. hope this is not a problem.

it would really help to know how many people are going to show up.... i really hope we make rotary history with this meet!!! 7-7-07 should be the biggest meet ever!!! on the previous list that we started i think there were only 14 peoples names, and i am pretty sure that we had more than 14 people vote for a location... do we need a new list to figure out how many participants we could expect to have???

i think the problem is that the thread is sticky and people dont notice it.

I placed it as a sticky so it would be noticed. That's the problem with having too many stickies, though; they DON'T get noticed. I'll unstick the other threads for now, so maybe it will be more obvious.

haha well i read it in the old thred to look for the sticky so im here. has any one posted anything becides just the se fourm like the second gen part of the fourm like i know evry one heads out to seven stock and stuff like that on the west cost how about having something like that on the east coast. like i would love to have a big meet here. on our side like at least 100 cars that would be amasing

i think that i offered a grill and wanted to know how many to expect... and darthrotary is at the geals gap event this weekend.... it takes more than two people.... wouldn't it be nice to have it at a place with enough parking to accomidate the amount of cars that will be attending??? we could just put it some place and end up without enough space and end up with a riot!! help with info. ren... thanks, dana

I will be in China at the time, but dayton can have my FD down there - if he will come pick it up!

(dayton is the only person that I know that turns down picking up a running FD...)

I did some research and Golden Corral will cater an event for $4 a person. can't beat that for the kinds of food to choose from. They have green beans, meatloaf, mac & cheese, etc. Pretty good options for a simple idea. :)

If we want to grill, we can hit up a Sam's Club or BJ's for a large quantity of food and do that instead.

Going to make some phone calls this week to find a locale for the event down in Savannah. Any suggestions will be appreciated. The two main things to focus on right now is a location and then food for people.

the park that darthrotary is taking about is really close to i-95 and there is a hooters right at the exit...

Stina and I are coordinating on this, she's still scoping out a good spot.
We've been comming up with logo ideas as well. I was planning on making some stickers, banner ect.....(work for a sign company now) for the event. Lets make it one to remember!

Please PM if you plan on attending, then I can get an idea about food and what not.

This would be cool. I was trying to get something together near the beach, but if Wendy is supportive of it, I'll let you guys entertain the hooters idea. ;)

Looking at getting info about doing the event at a Mazda dealership. What do you guys think about this idea? Hooters may be easier... or dayton said he could bring a grill, plus Shannon has access to one as well.

I know I just threw quite a few ideas out there... what do you guys want for this event to be? :)

going to the park this weekend to check it out. online is a little limited. But they say there are picnic areas with the built in grills and tables and such. just gonna look into how much parking is available and size of the lots. if its a couple of lots close together we might have to break up. is this a problem if it is that way or do i keep searching? i know the idea is to be together but is short walking distance a prob?
like i said will be scouting this weekend, as soon as i buy my new FD ;)
i need to know if we wanna cater or do a BYOF (bring your own food) sams club is kinda close there are restarants, and yes Hooters is right there, but we all know thier food sucks, its the hot beer and cold women why we love it( or is it the other way around?;)

I'm with Tina on doing Golden Corral. That way people don't have to bring food, and they do have a lot of variety. Plus, $4 a person?!? Where else can you find that?

I was also thinking of contacting a Mazda dealer down there. Who knows, they may be able to provide a parking area.

If you are going to reserve a picnic area, you better reserve NOW. Its now almost MAY, I know most of the campsites and picnic area around Santee-Cooper/EDISTO/HILTON HEAD/Charleston are already booked solid.

there is one mazda dealer local... and they are quite sm-all.... but maybe they have some hook ups that we don't know about, yet...? only been there one time, i guess this gives me an excuse to go by there again... park or beach ideas sound good to me.

I forgot to mention this earlier... but I just realized the link between Savannah and RX-7s... anyway. :lol: Yeah, I know... I'm a little slow.

We could have had it in Apex, NC (which is much too far away for people)... but Savannah is just as punny. :p:

I'm going to find out where I can get "Speed Limit 7" signs made. The hospital I work at literally has those signs right by the parking deck!! So cool. :D

Most dealerships i have seen have overflow parking areas for extra cars for sale, and it's never full. I'm sure one would work with us down in Savannah. :) Just need to schmooze the right person. A formal request would probably be best, and include the perks for the dealerships' business, because if they work with us, I KNOW we'd all be more willing to work with them for business in the future.

No matter where we go, I think a big emphasis needs to be placed on parking. Aside from us all getting together, we know we wanna see the sevens car show style!

what's funny, is that if we did it at a mazda dealership, then the mazda dealership's customers would see our cars and realize the future potential and/or demise of their newly purchased vehicle. :lol:

I think the RX-8s will sell either very quickly that day or even slower, cuz of the uneven "brap brap brap" coming from all of us. :D

ATTENTION ALL SE RX7 CLUB MEMBERS IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON OR THINK THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT YOU MIGHT COME FOR THE 7-7-07 REGIONAL MEET PLEASE HELP US WITH A NUMBER OF CARS FROM YOUR AREA...

example:

jax, fl. appox. # of cars 5
charlston, sc appox. # of cars 9
atl, ga. appox # of cars 35
and so on and so forth....... this would make me happy :) ... i would like to say thank you in advance for making this happen!!!

I do belive Atlanta group is doing thier own thing on 7-7-07. A Dave and Buster meet with go-karting in the afternoon. the alabama crew is going as well. only prob i saw was ALL mazda's, not just 7's exclusive so this might hurt attendance with our meet. if your in alabama or other surrounding states on the other side of GA., why drive to the coast when you have meet 4hrs closer?

^That's pretty weak. That's like having a meet during Sevenstock. Lame.

upstate of SC should bring about 6 cars give or take 1.
