Raleigh area rotor heads

Just moved to the Lillington area of NC. Any rotor heads in the club around here? There's a white FC near me parked with wheel covers. Haven't seen any others but would love to hook up with any locals.

Most of the folks in Raleigh use the book of faces to keep in touch. I do know they used to
meet at the 57 Grill cruisin on the 3rd saturday of the month. I went to it before.

We also have the charlotte Cars and Coffee the 1st Saturday every month. But is about 2 -3
hours drive from where you are.

thankyou!! I'm not a face book kinda guy. My girlfriend is though. I'll get her to look around for me. Is there a particular name they go by? I haven't been to a rotary event since the late 80's when I was briefly associated with the Mazda Rotary Club. Be nice to find a group locally to mingle with.

Same here, my FB account got cancelled because I never used it. LOL.

One of the guys had a website called ncrotaries.com but its long gone now.

alexrotor 11-30-16 02:43 PM

wow, I'm just seeing this first time. Sorry!! I don't care if it runs or if it walks (lol) I'm just looking to rub elbows w other rotor heads. TG Farrell is a Mazda God having that zoom zoom article written. My 5 letter is a survivor but it's all new stem to stern minus engine. Added a RB header exhaust at 110k.. now has 117 on it. Like to find someone to advance my timing 5degrees since it breaths so much better now. Runs great. Loves the weather down here. From Akron Ohio originally. Here's two recent pics in case you see me. Let's hook up!!! I'm just 2 miles west of lillington off old 421. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...fadb7158d8.jpg

she found Raleigh Rotaries. Requested "join group" her name is Cindy so let her in if it's ok. Been a rotary driver since 87. Love to join and do some meets and some greets!!! I may even have to join the "book of faces" if it stimulates communication. Again Cindy is making a join request so when she pops up give her the nod! Thank!!

I really appreciate all the nice comments on my five letter. Hope you keep me in the loop when a meet and greet comes up. I'm a severe rotor head from way back in 1983-4 when I drove one for the first time. This one is my third if you don't count the one I sold and bought back 23 years later. Lol! Since I'm not on Facebook personally I can only rely on this club and my girlfriend who's on Facebook to keep me availed of any upcoming events. This club is the best motor car club in the world. Wankel was a non conformist and so am I !! Lmao. So are all of you. That's the main reason I hope you guys keep me in mind when you get together. Looking forward to seeing your pride and joys and showing you mine!!

yagie 03-20-17 09:52 PM

I'm looking to move down to the winston-salem /raleigh area this summer. I'll probably be buying my FD around the same time. Literally been planning on buying one for 10 years lol, but was too busy adulting. This summer looks like it's lining up to be the time to finally do it though. Debts paid off. No car payments. Finally got where I want to be professionally. Now just have to hope it translates to good position in NC. If it does I'll see you guys out and about by the end of the summer :)

Are there any groups around greensboro, or is just about everyone around Raleigh?

im in Lillington. 35 minutes from Raleigh. I haven't been able to make any connections yet that show interest but if you make it this way I'll. E more than willing to start a group with you. Maybe we can attract some attention.

Hey, thats how the OGTA got started in ATL. Mike and Ray started meeting once a month
and it just grew from there. I'm thinking of doing the same here in Charlotte as I can't
get down to ATL often enough. We used to have a local meet here but it dwindled after
awhile.

If I can get an RX7, then I might be. It would be the first time I would have done something like this.
I'm pretty sure there are some other users around here that might be interested.

Demonsniper1 03-26-17 01:24 PM

Greensboro never really had a rotary scene for as long as I can remember. We always been in the middle of the Raleigh group and what was the I40/I77 crossroad group. Once Im back running im game for meet and greets.

maybe we're getting somewhere. Only takes two to start attracting attention. I followed an rx8 into the parking lot near where I work the other day but he's knew to the rotary scene. We talked a minute. Doesn't belong to any groups but I think he could gather interest. There's a FC just up the road from me that's covered in the driveway but I haven't seen it move yet. One of these days I'm going to just stop in and introduce myself while in my 7. There's a local small auto garage that's had an FD sitting in the parking lot for months. I asked a guy working there the story said his boss the owner owns it and it needs a leaking turbo fixed. Other than that I seem to be the only one here. I notice a guy from Fayetteville coming to DGRR si I'm hoping to meet him.

alexrotor 03-27-17 11:23 AM

Look me up at DGRR. I have a blue 90 vert. I am in Hickory

Xoury 03-27-17 01:47 PM

I'm having trouble finding the raleigh rotaries group on facebook, it only seems to be able to find the raleigh club for rotary international

I had the same problem. I don't do Facebook but my fiancé does. She got hooked up with them and we traded a few messages but never really got an invite to meet up.

I traded a few messages with someone in that group but it never amounted to a meet and greet. Hopefully some of that group will be at DGRR So we can put something together.

alexrotor 03-29-17 01:13 PM

The group out of Charlotte meets more often.

same with the Atlanta group OGTA. The distance sort of sucks for me but if meetings occurred on weekend I could make it. Regardless I'm just looking forward to meeting so many others sharing the passion of rotary madness.

rxtasy3 03-29-17 11:51 PM

paul, with all the companies coming to sc and putting up buildings off hwys 101 and 290, u could get a job and move down here. that way u will already know someone here, and only be couple hrs drive to either one.

I'm not on FB, when/where is a Charlotte group meeting? Is it periodic or just random?

I'm not sure I'm familiar with any from the Charlotte group yet. I'd know them by they're club names if I knew who they are.

I just found the Raleigh Rotary facebook group and requested to join. Hopefully I can connect with some local folks. I know several years ago the Raleigh community used to be pretty active.

MK3Brent 01-08-19 02:17 PM

Greensboro here! Hit me up if anyone wants to meet up sometime. :)

Copeland 01-09-19 12:46 PM

Facebook group Carolina Rotaries has a few local people.

jbherri2 02-08-19 01:46 PM

Any of you go to any of the Cars & Coffee events around Raleigh or the triangle?

Copeland 02-13-19 08:04 AM

Yeah, I frequent Cars and Coffee's in the Raleigh area. Feel free to chat if you come out to one.

The one I almost always frequent is Cars and Coffee Morrisville, the first Saturday of each month at 1101 Shiloh Glenn Dr, Morrisville, NC 27560.

Cars and Coffee Wake Forest starts back up next month. March 16th, at 3229 Burlington Mills Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

How big are these events? Are they under control and enjoyable or full of revving stangs/dodges etc? We have one here in Charlotte thats ~1200 cars or more and it is ok but gets lots of newer cars and not as many hot rods, one offs and classics as some of the smaller ones in the area. I go to it occasionally but stay closer mostly.

Copeland 02-13-19 11:24 AM

They're normally under control with a cop presence to cut down on the stupidity. The size really depends on the weather and how long the event has been at the same location. It's not as big as ~1200 cars, usually around 250-500 cars. Different cars at each event so it's hard to predict what will come out.

It may not be worth a big drive but you never know. Usually the nicer weather brings the unique cars out but that's not always the case.

tool and die guy 06-16-19 04:28 PM

Cars and coffee Raleigh sounds good! So does Morristown. Let me know who all is going to either of both.? I’m in.!!

I'd be glad to go to the next one! I've got an 06 Galaxy Grey GT RX-8 currently, but I'm looking to pick up another FD here soon (not to say I don't like the RX-8, I love it, but I miss the RX-7's.) I'm in the Cary area and I go to NC State, so, It's not too far at all.
