Old guys with 12As club meeting
Jeffrey's (now called 'Twisted Tavern') in Suwanee, 08-07-07, 7:00 pm (please notice all those 7's).
You 2nd gen kids can come, but free beer for those over 40, married, getting fat and know how to fix the cars. Here's who said they'd come: Mike Greg Me And a kid from out in the GA sticks who works at Jeffrey's (now called 'Twisted Tavern'), whose dad gave him one sweet 80 SA that he's now driving, when not on the bike. Nice Dad. Anyway, the more 1st gen RX-7s the better, owners included. Ray |
is 20 old enough? ;)
|
I'm not sure, I'll check with the secretary.
Ray |
OK, I checked with the secretary and it turns out 20 is old too, so come on by aws!
|
ill see what i can do. everything is hectic with trying to get everything sorted with moving, job, school, etc. ill try to be there though.
|
Where's Jeffries in Suwanee? Isn't there one at the Chateu Elan exit?
|
Try this, it's not the one near Chateu Elan, it's down by the 985/85 merge:

Funny thread title..
|
Everyone understands that they have draft beer for sale at Jeffery's, right?
Maybe the younger guys just don't appreciate the medicinal benefits of a pitcher of beer. Not only do you get smarter proportional to the amount of beer consumed, but you get better looking, and best of all your RX-7 even drives better on the way home. I am planning to be there. |
Good point Mike, I was going to buy the kids a coke. See you there. And Directfreak, I hope you'll stop in too if you are in the neighborhood.
Ray |
it looks like i wont be able to make it unfortunately :( due to moving and working this last week at my old job for moving money. i just dont see me being able to do it and 3rd shift. after i get moved im definately game. ill be a lot closer.
|
Well that will save me a coke, but I was kinda wanting to look at your car. Would you come if we paid you?
|
haha, i wouldnt let you do that. youll get a chance to look at my car soom time. ill be in oakwood for a while. so the next meet you have after this one ill come to. as long as my work schedule allows it. i dont know what thatll be yet. which car are you wanting to see?
plus, you wouldnt have to buy me a coke, i dont drink coke. id take a water ;) |
Well OK, let's go with the silver one first, in case you change your mind (the meetings are irregular, some of us old guys could croak before the next one).
Any other NE Atlanta 1st gens out there that could help us break the record for most 1st gens in the Jeffrey's parking lot at one time? Currently it's 3. Ray |

Ray Back on thread target. I will try to get out there tomorrow night. If so, I got a round. Since It looks I may be the young one :) -billy |
Looks like we've got a shot at the World's record number of 1st gen 7s in Jeffrey's parking lot at one time! Come on down tonight, Seven o'clock, of course.
|
wheres the pics? AWS140 DUDE. That was my last night at work, you should have freakin came! lol. yeah, cool guys, and sweet rides. Good times were had by all, except me, who was attempting to work lol (but shoot - as my going away present....i got some pretty interesting gifts from my co-workers!)
|
Here ya' go, here's the secretary's report for the Old Guys with 12As Meeting held at Jeffrey's in Suwanee 08-07-07 at seven o'clock.
The guy from the sticks showed up because he works there. His name is Paul, here's a pic: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_271_full.jpg Only three real 12As showed up, plus a model, but the records committee unanimously agrees that the old record of three 12As in Jeffrey's parking lot still stands: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_278_full.jpg Possibly the last three 1st gen RX-7s left in Northeast Georgia: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_277_full.jpg Mike explaining direct fire ignition: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_273_full.jpg Mike trying to convince somebody he's right: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_274_full.jpg Mike losing the argument: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_275_full.jpg Here's the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-t5vnvHjiw Next meeting is every first Tuesday of the month at 7, of course. That's all Folks! http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_276_full.jpg |
man, i wish i could have made it. paul, are you moving or why did you quit? third shift made it impossible for me to go. i was so tired yesterday i didnt wake up till 6:30pm.
|
Hey guys, that was fun last night. I got to drive a 7 around the parking lot. I just saw a pic of my old 7 at it's new home. I will try to round up some more 1st gens for ya for next meet on Tuesday, September 4th at 7PM????
Holly |
I hate that i missed it as well. I didn't check the forums yesterday. /cry
I did work 'til about 11pm so would not have done me much good to know. Hate I missed it. Those are some sweet looking RX7's though. Maybe this house will come though and I can start tearing down the GS and rebuilding it. maybe. Possibly the last three 1st gen RX-7s left in Northeast Georgia: |
Looks like it is official... Holly set the date, place, and time.
Holly, maybe by then you get a sweeeeet 1st gen for yourself. Rumor is there is a flock of them in Jefferson, GA> |
"Couldn't be I have 2 of them."
Mark, if these cars of yours didn't show up at Jeffrey's last night, how can we be sure they exist? We need proof, you never know what you can believe on the internet these days. And Billy, where were you? We needed just one more 1st gen to break the World's Record for 1st Gens in the Jeffrey's at Suwanee parking lot. I have to admit I'm discouraged and halfway convinced that the record will never be broken and that the three 1st gens you see in this post are the only ones currently on the road here in NE GA. And now with Paul gone, it looks like our chance at that record may be gone forever. But let's give it one more shot. Holly, you need to buy a 1st gen. Billy, you need to get off your butt and drive three miles from Lawrenceville down to Jeffrey's. Greg, bring the real car next time. Aws, no more excuses. And Mark, let's get at least one of those buggies running! Holly, our new secretary, has set the date: 09-04-07 at seven o'clock. Be there! Oh yeh, we had bunches of fun even though we didn't break the record. Ray |
Just to clear the record. There were three 1st gen 7's and a 2nd gen 7. I came over but due to the fact that I didn't know anyone it was hard to find yall when I got there. Needless to say I stood right in front of yall for about ten minutes and then left. I didn't realize who yall were until I saw the pics today. I have met the driver of the white 7 before on the interstate going to work and thought I recognized him last night but wasn't sure. Maybe next time.

Sorry we missed you RodRX! We did get a report of a second gen circling in the driveway. But still we didn't set any records because there were three first gens and a second gen (and two third gens, but they don't count) at an earlier meeting. We look forward to seeing you next time! Holly, an SE would be OK, but you do know they don't have a carb, right? It's really not the same without the carb. |
you guys aint kiding....I will feel young next to these guys :icon_tup:

Old but not slow!
|
Wait a minute... who is he calling old. Old is a relative term. When I stand next to Ray I feel young. 8^p
|
Mike, I'm not in the pictures. I don't think he's talking about Paul. So it's either you, Greg or Holly.

LIES!!!!! :rlaugh: :rlaugh: |
yeah AWS, I'm down in Valdosta right now ready to go to classes. Sucks thats your moving to oakwood as soon as i leave lol
|
Yeh we need to line Carl and Wacky up for a direct comparison, I hear they're pretty old too (those guys have been posting on this site since the last century). Can you guys make it for the September meeting?
And Paul, I don't see why you couldn't cruise up too, Valdosta isn't that far away. We don't want aws to be the only guy under 20! For the record, I'm admitting that at 55 I'm the oldest of the old (although I don't look a day over 50). Yet another record that needs breaking. Ray |
ray, its ok, im not under 20, i am 20 :D
paul, that sucks dude. you going to valdosta state? i thought about going there for a short time, but then changed what i wanted to major in. i have distany family that lives down there. i think they live on the air force base cause the guy is an officer of at air force. i got moved in saturday. im back in toccoa now so i can finish up what i have to do here tomorrow and then head back to oakwood for good. so ray, you should be seeing me at the next meet. |

Billy, you need to get off your butt and drive three miles from Lawrenceville down to Jeffrey's. I know, I suck. The first gen is not running yet so even if I had made it we would not have made history. Maybe for the next one. Do the Suwanee officers know the difference in dot and slicks when it comes to tires? :) -billy |
Just kidding Billy, it is not entirely your fault that we didn't beat the record. But if you show up next time, you just might come into enough advice and spare parts to get your first gen back on the road and help us in the future.
Don't know about the dots and slicks myself, by I'm sure the Suwanee officers will tell you if you ask them. One of the bar ladies there at Jeffries is also an RX-7 expert, she may know. Welcome to the neighborhood aws! Ray |
Reminder: 09-04-07. Might be out of staters.
|
I am in! If it is at 7 I will be leaving about 3ish here, to account for traffic and whatnot along the way. Charlotte has horrible traffic patterns :(
|
Wow! I'm marketing it on the calendar. I will do my best to be there. Although I can't drive but one 1st gen, I will prove that there are more that what you think Ray.
|
Be good to see you youngsters.
Ray |

I could fill the parking lot with all my "spare" parts. :) What I need is more time in the day. We need to have a good old fashion rotary swap meet here in GA. I know we could get guys from 5+ states to come. Maybe I will start looking for a place to do it. -billy |
Let's talk about setting up a rotary swap and set one up at the Sept. 4 meeting. I am already bringing a car full of parts for people.

Holly lives about a mile from Jeffrey's, that's why we meet there.
I'd be happy with three states and four 12As, that would break the world's record. See you on the 4th! Ray |
Just a reminder, the next Old Guys with 12As Club meeting is one week from today, Tuesday evening Sept. 4, 7:00 p.m. of course, at Jeffrey's. Once again we will be trying to break the World's Record for the most 1st gen RX-7's in Jeffrey's parking lot at one time.
Hope to see you there! (And bring your 7). Ray |
I have an 85 GS an will try to make the next one (darn work may get in the way).
I live in Lawrenceville and there are 1 or 2 other 1st gens I see around here once in a great while. |
