For some, yes it's worth it. For me, I'll just stick to a really conservative tune and call it good. I'm ok with leaving a few HP on the table for safety's sake. I do hope you can find some people to go in with you on this. Maybe hit up some other forums to see if you can find some interest, and definitely come out to cars and coffee tomorrow. I'll bet by walking around and talking to people you can find some that will be interested.

Whats split timing did you start with? Did you start with a flat timing map?

AGreen 03-08-13 07:30 PM

Nope, I used Aaron Cake's timing maps:

I tweaked them a little after getting the car running well, but Fauci has done a lot more with timing than I have for sure.

North Carolina is dead. Nobody posts on their local thread. Yet again I miss Cars and Coffee. It wouldn't matter if I was there, because if I were I'd be training reservists.

I can't wait to have my 7 back. The housings and Apex seals should get here from Goopy sometime next week. I have fender bars to put on her as well.

What is the y-axis %? Rpm vs ??? Is your engine a 6port or 4port? And what rotors?

AGreen 03-09-13 03:21 PM

It says %, but it's actually in kpa, where 100 kpa is atmospheric pressure, below that is vacuum, and above is boost. Stock S4 T2 engine.

junito1 03-09-13 03:30 PM

Your very motivating. All the DIY stuff you do. Thanks! But where is the vacuum? What map sensor are you running?

AGreen 03-09-13 04:30 PM

You're not going to believe it, but the map sensor is built in to the ecu. A vacuum line goes from the engine to the ecu.

Well I just had a work day from hell. And I basicly lost my days off. I will lose more sleep now. The worse part is I have to go to work then come back later.

junito1 03-09-13 05:07 PM

I can believe it. I guess, what I truly needed to ask was how many PSI is your map sensor good for?
That way i can somewhat see what those maps are doing? Is that the entire ignition map?

Dude, that's messed up. I guess I'm prepping your engine pieces solo tomorrow then.

Junito, the one on there right now is the standard map sensor that comes with all ms units. It's good for 2.5 bar, or about 22 psi. Keep in mind that the map I posted is in units of kPa, so 250 kPa is about 36.26 psia... so subtract atmospheric pressure from that and you get 21.56 psig as the top number. So I guess the map sensor really is limited to about 250 kPa then!

Count me in for a Steve Kan tuning. I am actually in the process of getting my FD ready for him to tune. Today I installed my wideband. Next up is my Power FC. A buddy of mine had his FD tuned this past December when Steve came to Orlando and he has not had any post tune issues. I was in the process of arranging to have him tune my car remotely via internet hookup but I would rather him do it live given the choice. Raksjo4, I would not worry about any bugs because he can tune remotely should an issue arise. Junito1, whose dyno do you have in mind?

junito1 03-09-13 10:28 PM

Great! 3 more! No ideas on the dynos. This is on the fly, so i wouldnt expect the session soon.

I am going to try to come out, The last three months have been hell. I was really close to going to Mass. Because I didn't fill out a BTR for a tool. I am pretty sure that if I went to mass I would have been kick out of the Navy when I go through PTS for my Cross rate. I really need some & car threapy, I need to install those fender bars.

FC3S_nataku 03-11-13 02:08 PM

Anyone going to find themselves in Orlando this weekend?

raksj04 03-11-13 06:13 PM

Maybe... why?

FC3S_nataku 03-11-13 09:42 PM

I'm heading out there on Saturday night to pick up a sunroof for my 7

raksj04 03-11-13 10:50 PM

This is Agreen's side project he has been working on.

I'm going to Orlando Saturday! We should cruise together, but in diff vehicles bc I'm heading to Sarasota for the weekend.

Oh and I'm jealous that you're getting a new sunroof. :-/

AGreen 03-12-13 04:34 PM

Did you end up getting your air leak fixed? If you need one, I have a handful of spare compressor covers sitting around here, one of which is powdercoated.

FC3S_nataku 03-12-13 08:26 PM

Who's air leak?

AGreen 03-13-13 06:15 AM

5lick's. Fauci & I found it at C&C this past saturday, but it wasn't "side of the road" fixable. The nipple on the compressor cover popped out.

raksj04 03-13-13 05:24 PM

So have anyone had say 275WHp on 195s before? I am curious how fun my car will be after this rebuild, or or scary. :scared:
