Whether the aux ports are clogged or not will not, it won't stop the car from starting. Fuel, air, spark, compression. These are the things you need to start a car. Test compression, get a cheap spark tester from a parts store and test spark on all coils, then test fuel pressure. Also, do a dummy check to make sure there is air getting to the engine (maybe something got sucked in?). If you don't know how to do any of those tests, use Google. Keep in mind, rotary engine compression test is different than doing a piston engine compression test, so look for a youtube video of how to do an Rx7 compression test.

[shortstory]
I worked at a Dodge dealership, and we had a car towed in for a no-start. The owner couldn't figure out why her car wouldn't start. She didn't tell us that she had replaced the air filter. After numerous guys took a look at it and couldn't figure it out, I stopped by and asked the 4 basic questions. Nobody thought about the "air" part. I popped the air filter out, and it still had the plastic bag on it. She took it out of the box, didn't pull the plastic bag off, and installed it. [/shortstory]

If all else fails, borrow a truck and tow dolly and bring it to Jacksonville. Like Fauci said, there are more than enough guys in this area that will gladly help get it running.

Sounds awesome. I'll stay posted so I can know when the next big meet is and try and be there. Hopefully I'll be driving my 7 to Jacksonville for some meets after that. Not relly much of anything here in Tallahassee but dumb college kids.

AGreen 07-03-12 05:23 PM

How about this; I'll pm you if there's anything going down in case you miss anything. Have you tried any of the tests yet?

I'd love to do a monthly meeting somewhere, in the daytime. I went to one down at the Castaway Island Preserve that was pretty nice, so that's an option. Maybe we could find somewhere up around the 95/295 junction. It's still in Jacksonville, close (ish) to me, easy to get to for everyone. I may do some scouting around this week to look for open lots.

Quite a few people have been asking me when we were going to do a big Jax meet again like last year. I was thinking maybe the end of this month or beginning of august. Does anyone here fish? Some family and friends had a cook out at Huguenot Park, and we did surf fishing too. If a bunch of guys were down I think that would be a lot of fun, though the cars may get kind of dirty, LOL. What are you guys thoughts?

AGreen 07-03-12 11:00 PM

Maybe a little earlier than that? I might... not be in town around that time.

Not much of a fisherman though. I tried a couple times, sucked hardcore at it. I'm more for hanging out and talking cars with random people, but then again I don't get to do that very often, so it's not worn out for me yet :)

I'd love to head out there, but the roads were REALLY shitty last time I went. I'd rather do it at the Gate station at Hecksher and 295! :)

The ferry parking lot would work... not to far from that beach. Maybe even something a little further north up A1A, towards Fernandina Beach - or even in that area? I'm open to it... as long as the roads are legit.

Steve Kan Tuning

Hey Gents,
I am Mark from up in Savannah. Our local group is talking about flying Steve Kan in from Dallas to tune some of our cars. The information is here:

https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-foru.../#post11146512

Steve is worth every penny...awesome tuner:egrin:

Some of us would probably cruise to Jacksonville if yall have a big meet sometime too. We have 12 7s that hang out together. Everything from 20B FC, Full drag FB, and several bridge and street ported FDs.

Please let us know if you are interested. We haven't settled on a date yet...that is still up in the air, but it will be July/August time frame.

Thanks,
Mark

Not yet. I have been so busy with work, and I haven't much extra money at this point so I haven't yet, but I will hopefully be getting to it in the next few days. I need to get my hands on the materials to do the tests. Getting tired of getting rides since this thing crapped out on me. Hoping it's not an apex seal or something of that nature.

AGreen 07-08-12 08:50 PM

Looks like I'll be pretty busy for a few months. Any car shows or meets coming up may be very hard for me to go to for a little while. This whole "work" thing really cramps my style

As a side note though, my car is running FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC! I got all my AFRs right where I want them, accelerator pump's all tuned in, no stall on start up, everything's just right on the money. I finally conquered tuning Megasquirt myself! Next on the list will be hybrid turbo round 2, then I'll get hot and heavy on my suspension (grip, not slip). Maybe I should do a Sharingan19 sort of back-dated build thread if I can find enough pictures.

Good! By the time you come back from what sounds like a deployment, maybe I'll have a MS waiting for you to help me with!

In the mean time, I pretty much ripped up my bling-bling 'vert... gotta get rid of the house carpet "amp rack" that the PO made. Effing ridiculous. Thats okay though... my battery is headed towards the trunk this week!

sharingan 19 07-10-12 02:29 PM

I should be out of paint relatively soon. Then time to finish tuning.

RX007CYM 07-10-12 03:42 PM

Hi all,

I need some microtech help please. Car runs great once it starts and I am very happy with my tune. Problem is I went off track and now I believe the timing is off (CAS got shredded and wheel bent). Straightened the wheel and replaced the sensor. Green light is on when the unit is powered and yellow light is consistant when cranking. I've got spark and fuel but she just won't start. Is anyone willing to drive down to Starke/Keystone Heights to the track, plug in, and help me get her started? May be as easy as resetting the timing. Shoot me a pm if interested. I can pay in cash or bribe with beer and food =)

Thanks!

sharingan 19 07-11-12 02:44 PM

James, I wish I had or knew anything about microtech or I'd come help. There is a guy down near stark w/ an FD but he runs a PFC and doesn't know anything about tuning. I'm pretty sure there are some big tuners in ORL that use microtech.

Alright so there's plenty of notice for this, end of September and they're trying to draw in a BIG crowd (200+). Not sure how that'll work out but I'd love to see a big rotary turn-out.

The event is sponsored by Mazda City of Orange Park (which is also the location) and organized by Jacksonville Mazda Owners Club. There will be free food and possibly some other give-aways.

The official event page is on Facebook
Facebook Post
so you can RSVP (to get in on the free food etc) but to find out how many rotaries will be there let's work up a list of who's planning on showing up!

Sigh. Thanks for looking out James. Everything has been cherry and I f*|( it up. Yeah I use Kilo in Orlando but wanted to avoid a trip down there. Time to source a truck and tow her down.
