Brake duct install

I made a impromptu video making some brake ducts for my FD stock sized brakes.

I,m going to be running at Mid Ohio in a few weeks and with some Carbotech XP12 and XP10 pads front and back,we will see how well this works.

Nice videos. I'm really looking forward to your results. What are your wheel specs and why you thought you'll run into issues?

This is on my to do list in the future, but im just focused on getting the car running for now...

Thanks,I have become a bit of a fan of doing videos lately.

Specs on wheels ( I traded these and I,m guessing they are 9.5inches wide) are Enkei 18,s NT03+M with Toyo RA 1 275/35/18 x 44 mm all the way around....these suckers are wide being a r comp tire and the potential problem being wide at the front is that at full lock the tire would rub the cooling ducts so hence the protective collar.

This is a "bootstrap" approach instead of going out and spending $2000- $3000 dollars,on a custom setup and I,m good with that.

Not sure if grinding the knuckle compromises structural integrity. I got these from a forum member already fabbed. They crimped the tube to make room for that piece you ground off.

That said, i'm wondering about a comment on another thread (i think you may have started?) that questioned cooling only one side of the rotor and recommended directing the fresh air over the entire caliper instead.

No its just a tab and I lost a ounce of weight off the front of the car ! :)

Update..very happy with the results, brakes were strong from start to end and had no trouble with hauling down from 130 to 50 mph repeatedly..heck they do not sound to loud for the street.
I,m happy I went through the process,I would recommend though to get someone else to make the plates as it was a pita for a non fabricator like me to take on a welding job other than that very happy.
