With all the modern traffic and hotrod cop cars, helicopters, etc, I *highly* doubt it.

Yeah, those days are gone. The first cop you failed to stop for would get every department in that state on your ass....your little race would be over very quickly...probably less than an hour easily once you failed to stop.

Realistically i just did the math and all though its impresive its only approx. 90 MPH. I live in San Jose and I visit my mom who lives in Vegas and its approx 563 miles from my House to her house and I have made that trip in 6 hours which is approx 90 MPH twice. Average for me is a little under 8 hours. So maybe it would be possible to beat it if you took the right precautions in the right areas and floored it during the rest. Hell traffic now adays in some areas cruises at 80+. Anyone want to try and break the record with me? LOL

I've been on their mailing list for 2 years or something like that. They said it was going to be out last fall but I guess it got pushed back again. I can't wait for this movie to come out tho!

I've had a record from NoVa to Philly (144 miles) of 1 hr 19 min for quite a few years now....which was doing an average of 109 mph. That is, until I was running almost 2 hrs late and the guys were waiting on me for the Rotorfest Caravan a few years back. My passenger and I made it in an unprecidented and *documented* 1 hr and 14 min...an average of 117 mph, if my math's correct :D

Closest thing you can do today is One Lap of America. I did that a few years ago, there's somewhere from almost none to very little racing on the streets, but it's run by the guy who ran the original Cannonball Run, and it is a lot of fun.

Although that is a very good time you can do that on a full tank of gas probably one freeway. I had to stop for gas twice to fill up and had 5 freeway changes. Drove through two towns. I love fast trips I just pace myself by going a little faster than the fastest driver around me or I pick a car I see way in the distance and tell myself I have to catch it in the next couple minutes lol.

Well there are people out there with faster road trips than me but...

* Denver to San Francisco (1200 miles) in 20 hours... solo... in a Geo Metro. When I arrived my friends had all left without me because they were sure I wouldn't make it in time. }:|
* Denver to Council Bluffs and back (just east of Omaha, 1100 miles round trip) in 14 hours (in my 2nd gen), including an hour in Council Bluffs. Most of that time was on the return trip, I had to get there before 4PM... to go to traffic court. Averaged 95 mph on the way out... without getting another ticket.
* Austin to Denver (950 miles) Got from Austin to Las Vegas, NM (666 miles according to Google... spooky) in about 7 hours, then an ignitor died. (In my GSL-SE)

Did a Denver-Boston trip in that Geo too in two days, which included getting to Fort Morgan (about halfway to Nebraska), then getting a flat, having to go BACK to Denver to get a new tire, and leaving again... didn't get out of Denver the second time until almost 7 PM (go go Discount Tire - best tire shop ever, seriously) and was in Boston 36 hours later. That was probably the most grueling trip I ever took.

When I did One Lap of America I was disappointed... it was actually a really slow, easy road trip with far too much opportunity for sleep. :)

That's why I wanna do a Cannonball/Gumball run! :D I was SERIOUSLY contemplating the Ultimate Rally, but a) my car wasn't going to be finished in time, and b) for some reason, that event kinda died out before it ever happened...

When I had my R1 Yamaha about 6 years ago, I was going to be late for a golf tournament and our tee time was in 20 minutes....I had almost exactly 34 miles to travel. I lived in the country, of these miles most were dead straight runs and LONG straight runs, longest straight away was roughly 15 miles without even the slightest curve in the road... I think there is maybe 5 quick little sweeping turns that I was taking at 90+mph, and the rest is just a dead straight run, 1 stop sign which I blew through and that's it, basically just a 33 mile drag strip.

I don't drive like this anymore as I lost my license back then for too many tickets and I don't condone driving like an asshole, but I did it so I might as well brag about days gone by :lol:

34 miles in just under 14 minutes.... so a little over 140mph average. I can't remember if I ever brake tapped worried about a potential cop or not coming down the road because I'm sure with that machine and that road it could be done MUCH faster, so I'm sure at times I was being a wuss. :lol:


It was a good thing my buddy still had my clubs in his car, because my pickup would of never made it in time :lol:


And that is also why I got ride of my street bikes....I couldn't control myself so I decided that if they weren't in the garage, I wouldn't be tempted.

Some hardcore people back then, hearin how they did some rigging on their cars. (of course, doin what they did, they'd have to be) :) Can't wait for this to come out!

Ya I saw the trailer about 6 months back, it looked awesome.

But ya, the only way I see this doable these days is on a very very fast sport bike. Has enough manueverability to out handle a cop through traffic and outrun a helicopter/light aircraft. If you are in a car you are screwed.

What is awesome to note is that these guys averaging 90mph, meaning they most likely were going well over 100 for much of the trip when you consider gas stops, didn't get into 1 single fender bender along the way. All that 'speed endangering safety' bullshit makes me laugh.

There is a famous italian guy who rides motorcycles through Europe from point to point, shattering how fast people have done it. I am searching online to find his name. He gets arrested all the time, kinda like the guy who free climbs sky scrapers. Police HATE guys like these.

Actually, some of those guys look like real assholes, but I guess that comes with the territory. There's one guy that I talk to every now and then who's I guess an admin at the gumball forums...one of them anyway...that's run it. Nice guy from LA (the state, not Los Angles). Not saying all of them are...just some. ;)

I had contemplated that a couple of years ago too. I suppose if you can get enough sponsors one could swing it, plus there's two of you so split whatever's left.

The one thing you're overlooking is that if you're in a car and you get in an accident, the chances are surviving are present. If you're in a bike and you wipe out...

Due to the public rash of street racing related deaths, I can't imagine anyone dropping sponsorship money for this since it's negative publicity in the public eye. Most companies want to distance themselves from illegal street racing.

Could you imagine having your name plastered all over a car that ended up killing someone due to racing on a public street and having that all over a national news report. Talk about end of the line.

Reminds me of that new series "Drive" except that show looks slightly retarded due to a lack of any really cool cars.

Basically nobody ever crashes on the straight flat interstates unless there's a road hazard, bad weather, or they fall asleep. Interstates like they have in Nebraska are safe in daylight at essentially any speed. They don't even have deer.

When I went to Council Bluffs was the fastest I ever drove over an extended period. I slowed down to double digits whenever I would come up on more than one other vehicle, plus any town with more than one exit. But, when I was cruising, I was at... whatever 5500 RPM is on a T2. Probably about 125-130. Astonishingly I still got about 15mpg on the trip.

Cruise control won't engage over 100, bummer :)

The fastest I have ever driven was in my bone stock 1996 mitsubishi galant with an auto tranny and I removed the stock muffler. That was after i slammed it into a couple of curbs being stupid and thinking I could drift in a FF auto. I had a crushed in pass. fender and a curb slapped pass rear wheel and bearing. It started shaking at 90 so I decided to top it out. I got it up to 132mph and it was still climbing when I got scared and let off. That was my beater. So far I have only gotten my 90 GTU up to about 128ish. I used to make my trip from Winter Haven florida to Dothan Alabama (about 580 miles(mapquest says it should take 6 hours and 6minutes or somethin) in about 4 1/2 hours. When I wasn't going 35 through a town or going back to the turn I missed, I was cruising at about 120 the whole way.

Noobs...sheesh. I've almost *always* seen 150mph+ whenever I took the FD out. Topping 4th and pulling in 5th, you're already in the 140s... :rock:

The stock FC t2 speedometer tops out at 160, I've only buried it once, and that was playing with an STI on the hwy.

I can't imagine why you'd want to be driving like that around fairfax anyway. I hear you get thrown in jail for that type of thing 'round them parts. :pat:

You certainly do. But before I go home, I GOTTA take a nice quick run down and back on Rt. 7. It's an uncontrollable urge... Plus, if I ever see lights, I'm reachin for the shifter and never lookin back... (cuz at that point you're going to jail anyway; might as well play your odds...)
