The fix for the O2 also worked for me. Not a big deal. Also the unit will read in other than Metric. My bad about that. I missed where you can make a selection for Metric or not.

What was the turn-around on the ECU upgrade from the point that you sent it to them?

X-JaVeN-X 03-21-06 06:24 PM

speaking with, Mike M., from digital tuning, I believe the normal turnaround time for them once they receive your ecu, is 1 day. Can't beat that.

Slo Motorsports 03-21-06 06:34 PM

I know that's what they say but I wanted to know what forum members actually experienced. I'm up against a time crunch and can't afford to have the car held up waiting for the ECU. Don't get me wrong, in a perfect world that turn around is great but does that actually happen?

HAILERS 03-21-06 07:56 PM

I ordered and paid on the 17th of Feb (Friday).

I got off my dead ass on the 21st(Tuesday) and sent it from the post office.

On the 24th (Friday) I got a notice that they had sent it on that day.

Now I flat do not remember the day it arrived. Since the 24th was on a Friday I'm sure it didn't arrive til maybe Tuesday, and I remember it was around three o'clock in the PM.

So I figure it was a full week by sending it on a tuesday. See a Feb calender for the above dates for yourself.

A week is not a bad figure for sending by snail mail and getting it back by snail mail. There might have been a George Washington holiday in there a couple of times. Or was it Presidents Day or Mlk Day or????? day.

Slo Motorsports 03-21-06 09:04 PM

Well, maybe I'll try to get it done before the car goes in for a tranny rebuild. The shop has an in floor dyno. Maybe I'll have them run it to see what effect it has on the car. Thanks.

Does the rtek 2.0 fuel correction work like the S-AFC.

You set a correction value % from stock (+ or -) at RPM points?
Does it take throttle position into consideration like the safc?
I have my safc wired through the Boost Sensor instead of the TPS is this possible?

Yes it is divided into different RPM ranges.
TPS is not used to tune the RTek it is based on turbo boost pressure and RPMs

HAILERS 03-21-06 10:36 PM

You can use either a bar graph, 3D graph or table to change the fuel.

What little I've done is using the bar graph. You can see it on their site on page 16 of their Instruction Guide for the 2.0.

You will see 10 rpm columns for the current boost level you have selected.

It starts with a boost level of -4 and the ten rpm columns. You can change any of the columns using your cursor to move the current setting, either up or down.

Then you can select the next boost which is -2, and you have 10rpm columns you can adjust as you did above.

Then you can select 0 boost and make adjustments to 10rpm columns

Then you can select 2psi...............

The you can select 4psi...................

Then you can select 6psi..................

Then you can select 8psi.......................

Then you can select 8psi.........................

Then you can select 10psi.............................

and so forth til 14pis.

Like I said, you can download their instruction manual and view it. It describes things better than I who have done almost nadda so far. I've other things a goin on that are distracting me from my hobby.

I payed plenty for next day air. I sent out the ECU on Monday morning...recieved by Mike on Tuesday in the am...recieved on Wednesday in the am. Can't beat that turnaround with a stick. But I did pay more for shipping than for the ECU upgrade itself.

gxlbiscuit 03-22-06 02:07 AM

i know this may sound wierd..... i understand the stock boost sensor isnt worth much over 14.5 lbs boost.... what if i want to run more with an rtek 2.0??

Slo Motorsports 03-22-06 09:22 AM

Anyone been able to pass emissions testing with the 2.0 upgrade? Does it have a stock base map that is identical to the stock ECU setup?

Yes it does. Read their site.

You also might have noticed another post about the RTEK2.0 and how a fellow found out how his boost sensor was way out of whack. Most likely due to a swap from n/a to turbo without addressing the wiring changes that HAVE to be made especially if you use a turboii emissions harness with the original n/a front harness.

There's a small glitch with the Diagnostics Screen. It shows the inputs/outputs and has a check next to those that are active or have a ground on them. It seems the Switching and the Relief solenoids are arse backwards.

The screen shows the Switching Solenoid with a check mark at idle and the Relief with no check mark. Ass backwards with a fully warmed up engine and the TPS set right. I sent a message to them and I'm sure they will correct it in a jiffy, like they corrected the o2 sensor readout. They did that with a software change the next day or two.

Not a biggie, but no reason that it shouldn't be right. There's a couple of other input/outputs that are ass backwards. Small stuff, but something a owner should be aware of.

Something I do not care for is the TPS reading. It shows at idle 20 percent. Now 20 percent of five volts is 1vdc, which is the value of a properly set tps, but it seems to me they could have made it read Zero Percent at one volt. Not a biggie, just ............ehhhh....not what I'd want.

Slo Motorsports 03-22-06 10:02 PM

Just sent off our ECU today. They should have it tomorrow morning and be able to turn it around before the end of the day. That means that we will have it Friday morning. I asked them to change it so that it reads the stock ATP. We may not have our Palm i705 configured and running right away but we want the car back up and running. We'll post more once we start playing with it.

Yeah, I guess this should have been in the manual, but anyways, the output screen reflects the volts you'de see at the pin on the ECU. A tick would correspond to ~12v, an "empty" box, ~0v. It seemed good, way back when
went through that part of the devel, but looking at it again it would probably
make more sense for it to say "blah solenoid energized" and reverse the sense.
ie a tick for energized. This would then also fit better if you had a "light" on
the outputs (like for the old way of setting TPS) as a "tick" would correspond to
the light being on. It'll be in the next update.

Hailers you should have been in the testing for this! always very thurow!!!

I cant wait till someone has this dyno tuned and we can get feed back from a turner!!!!!

can you run the RTek from a laptop? or is it Palm only?

If so, any plans for a laptop option?

Is there a way to make it run on a PSP?

I have enough gadgets, dont really want another one to tote around.

i have the same question. I plan on getting an RTek 2.0 very soon, but dont have a Palm os pda. I suppose you could use a windows Palm OS emulator with serial port support and run the program from your laptop...

what would be nice is windows support though, through a regular serial port

HAILERS 03-24-06 06:00 PM

Just to be contary..........laptops SUCK when used in a car during real time readouts.

I used a HP Pavilion to monitor a Pico data logger and the laptop is ungainly and the screen can't be read unless you make a cover/shade for it.

The Palm I can read under any light conditions and it's handy. not ungainly. Just my humble opinion.

stylEmon 03-25-06 12:40 AM

HAILERS,
although I your INSIGHTFUL, productive opinion, it doesnt answer the question.
