Turbo 2 tranny on an fd motor

Does it fit? Do I need to replace the bellhousing with another one? what about the clutch and pressure plate do i need to use turbo 2 or still can use the third gen one? Im going from old school bridge ported 12a to 13b turbo alcohol .......any help would be apreciated.

thanks for the answer fellas!!! So I will not be able to use the fd pressureplate or clutch? Its freaking new.... Do I need to buy a turbo 2 clutch set? Im freaking swaping from bridged 12a NOS with turbo 2 and rx4 bellhousing to fd turbo alcohol on my starlet.

Wont work unless you buy a conversion kit for the throw out bearing. FD is push/pull type (or other way around). Youtube how an FD clutch works

You do know the transmissions are identical with the exception of how the throwout bearing works right??? Well the TII trans is somewhat stronger, but with a TII clutch and flywheel everything bolts up and works fine.

T2 tranny fits on fd engine, You will need to grind the rear iron a bit if using a stock t2 flywheel.

^I found that out at the last minute. You have to do a small cut on the rear edge of the plate on the exhaust side or the flywheel will catch the lip.

TII clutch bolts right to the FD flywheel using a TII slave, TII throw out bearing. pilot bearing is the same spline pattern as well.

ok ordered turbo 2 stage 4 clutch kit. Can I keep the fd fly wheel and starter?

jaggermouth 07-15-11 08:33 PM

Not sure about the starter but I'm using the stock FD flywheel.
