How to make a FB hook?

Just like the title says how do you make a FB hook? I have about 400hp and a set of 235/60/15 drag radials and the car wont cut a 60ft worth a damn. Is there a set up that people run? any help would be great. I would like to get down to the 1.5X 60 ft times.

changing the instant center of the car helped me get 1.9 60 ft's on street tires.

What rear end are you using? Are you still using the stock control arms and geometry?

You probably won't get the car to hook really well unless you redo the geometry of the control arms.

Im using a ford 8.8 and im using stock links but I did change the pinion angle to down 4 and raised the upper link it helped a little.

The stock control arm angles are your problem. If you draw a line forward that follows their axis you'll find they are not helping you load the tires at all.

Do a little research on the "instant center" like mentioned above. Knowing your center of gravity height is important for the calculations. Its all a matter of where the lines from the arms cross(instant center, side view) in relation to the center of gravity. The instant center being in front or back or above or below the center of gravity effects what the car does.

I have same 8.8 rear, with 26x8.5 15 m/t slicks on an fb and i'm cutting 1.4 60 ft's

indispeed what shocks and springs are you using and are you using the stock links or did you switch to rod ends.

indispeed 11-14-09 10:39 PM

I'm useing kyb shocks and racing beat spring with 2 coils cut, and also with tubular trailing arm w/ rod end's...

according to what I can gather 26x10.5x15 is the biggest for ET streets, while 26x8.5x15 is the biggest for ET drags. The difference is because drags are measured as treadpatch while streets are measured as tire width. See http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/su...t-streets.html

Biggest tire after a little hammer action is 26X8.5X15.
