***MAZFIX 8.47@164mph update***

Mazfix's FD ran 8.47@164mph.
Congratulations to Archie and the Mazfix team.
I believe this makes them the quickest un-tubbed IRS FD in the world presently.

I guess he got tired of running high 8's with the IRS!
I wonder if it's still untubbed though?
Well that means the Scorch Racing/Blitz FD is still the quickest with IRS.

Both are 13B powered.

mr2foryou 04-21-07 09:22 PM

crispeed: Where did you find those Blitz FD pics? Do you have any high res. pics of it? I love it.

chrx8er 04-24-07 04:38 AM

Hi guys,
Archies car is still untubbed, 13b methanol, 5 speed gforce, 9 inch ladder bar rear end. We have a big meet here in Brisbane this Saturday the 28th and are hoping to see the times tumble again. His 8.47 was only the cars seventh pass!! We are still sorting the rear end settings out.
Can any of you guys tell me when sevenstock 10 is on?? Havent heard or been able to find any dates yet. Archie and myself are heading to Sema in LV and are hoping it will be around then so we can go to both!
Cheers
Col

hey man great car, we wish u the best on getting the numbers down, the car looks great

T04Eneedy 04-24-07 10:53 PM

why has no one built a 20b car to take down the IRS record?i mean i figure 50% more tq could really get you going...

Power or torque is not the problem. It's a balancing act between power and traction.
You can only put down so much power without tubbing the car for huge tires.
As it is presently you can't even use the full potential of the 13b on the small tires.
Even the un-tubbed kings from down under in Aussie a 12A turbo is the quickest at 8.19 1/4mile.

Nice video find.
My first time seeing that one. Got love the strange sound of a twin turbo setup. Almost sounds like a single rotor motor.
Those guys from 'Scorch Racing' been racing for some time. They had a really quick low 9sec FC before they teamed up with Blitz and created what you see now.
Have not seen or heard anything from them in a while though.
I have pics of the engine compartment just have to figure out how to post them in here.:rlaugh:

T04Eneedy 04-27-07 09:45 AM

sooooo,about those pics..... lol

T04Eneedy 04-29-07 09:53 AM

i just noticed.isnt that kinda dangerous running bias-plies with full width radials up front? lol

T04Eneedy 04-29-07 01:34 PM

shit now that i look at it that is a slow trap speed for the blitz car too (222kmh=137mph).that car must have been flyin at one point to trap that slow, yet run in the 8.80's!!!

chrx8er 11-03-07 06:58 PM

Yesterday at the Jambo rerun the Mazfix rx7 ran a PB of 8.44 @ 169.3mph!!
Followed it it with two more 168.7 and 168.9mph.
Still massive wheel spin of the line. If we can get the power to the ground look for low 8s.
Cheers
Col

WOW that car is moving boy, Big congrats to all involved... wonder how low he could he have gotten if he had kept it IRS, but still without it those times are amazing for an un-tub 13b :icon_tup:

What about the Baretta, is it making a come back?

The good part is that no one can say it cannot be done.
The Aussies are clearly the leaders when it comes to un-tub small tyre imports.

Also shows that you don't need a 20b to run decent RELIABLE times, but you do need a driver with alot of balls to steer the thing thru 1/2 track skids. I think the cake goes to GRUMP2's 20b rx2 with the 3/4 track skids @ 8.1's, that man gotta lotta kohonies driving that thing.

Crispeed what are you personal goals for the new Travieso IRS FD? We know that you're more than capable of making the necessary power, but what about the IRS? Are you running the mazda diff or a 8.8? I guess at that level where 1 or 2 have gone its kinda hard to predict the outcome, but good luck.

crispeed 01-20-08 02:26 AM

True to a point but you can't argue that a 20B might be more reliable at this power level especially when in this application it's not about how more power you can make it's about how much you can get to the ground.

My personal goal is to just start! :rlaugh:
I do know the first time something breaks the IRS is history!
Been there done that many times before.
'Gold' setting is about breaking imaginary records and parts. :rlaugh:
Racers do what it takes to be consistent to win races. You got to decide your piority as a racer. If you can set a record along the way all good and fine but you ain't going to win races trying to set records. You can't have both because the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow does run dry eventually
