I'm debating selling porting templates but I'm worried about people messing things up. Are you looking for a FULL bridge, HALF bridge or a LARGE streetport. There's a big difference. Are you still going to be running the 61mm turbo?

I'm looking for full bridge and a large street port template. Looking to do the large street port first
And maybe in the future another engine with the full bridgeport.

If you really want to do a semi-peripheral port LMK. I'm not going to get into details to why but it would not be smart to do a full bridge with any peripheral port. Even a half bridge is a bad idea.

I have the templates in hand but I don't really know if I want to be responsible for people trying bridgeports out.

If you would like to me to recommend a port for you I can do that but trust me that the most amount of air you can get into the engine is NOT the answer.

Again, tell me the turbo you plan to use, boost and lastly the intentions of the car so I can make sure you have all three logically in-line...

some of the most powerful rotarys in the world use this guys gear and port designs. Ive put those ports in motors b4 and had great results. 440rwhp @ 12psi on 98 fuel for example.

My Understanding or port limits and making a template.

Thought I would post these pics after i received PM from member last month about it.

I think from the pics you can see why a port takes on these shape due to limits of seal support/casting thickness rotor sweep etc....

These is how i always determined port size or shape if i wanted max port area... which i always did.
I think its good info to share ie. understanding why it is the way it is.

Anyway i haven't been around for a long time so excuse my ignorance if this is now common knowledge?

Ive since sold all my rotaries, but plenty of you guys mite find this helpful?

Since my last post i had started to port past the second control oil seal after i saw an old Japans vid with Re-Amemia doing just that.
Which must give massive gain in lift near port close, plus a more desirable flow to chamber?

got to love the art of porting a rotary I cant wait to get started on my next moter! that using perspex idea seems prity good I might try that. so when you ported past the second oil control ring that moter didnt smoke at all from burning oil? and how much power have you made on ports like that?

The engine doesn't have any visible sign at of burning oil. It seems the second control ring is not that critical?.
I think i’ve ported three motors now like this ie oil seal porting. the last one was for a friend that i also road tuned, I was worried about his one because i reused the old control rings and springs and only installed new oil orings. Still clean as a whistle?

I wish i could compare a difference for you. But its to difficult with out dyno?. I’ve only ever road tuned. But what i realise now is i will never do BP again. A large Stg 2 port has such a smooth wide power band imo. Even with stock intake Torque hold hi in revs.... Imagine if it were complimented with reduced runner length. Can only imaging how hi peek torque mite hold?

I did another engine before that used even larger port advance because it was RX8 rotors... At the time many people didnt spot that opportunity to take advantage of the new side seal location. It appeared no one else was talking about it back then?

FTI I didnt like it.... it did allowed aprox 2mm more port advance and so also increased lift.
But The economy deteriorated a lot. like a BP?...

If i ever build another NA with RX8 rotors i think i would stick to this template and not take advantage of the port advance potential.... Although, Those considering BP with RX8 rotors?.... Perhaps you can now consider to bin that BP template and take advantage of an enormous Stg2 port?. Much simpler to do.

BTW, Pics below is RX8 rotor with same template. You can see how much extra tolerance you have at your disposal to port even further advance.

And a second pic is the porting that using the RX8 rotors allowed me to perform on my old 20b. Unfortunately I didn't know back then about porting to oil ring....

looks like the half bridge port might become obsolete soon! well I hope to make like 550-600whp on the ports I just did with 25psi on e85.

Great information here. I ported past my outer control ring scraper and read other threads that eluded to what I learned here.
