crazy ass boat motor.... i can only imagine seeing this in car!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBOGC...layer_embedded

Length: 30"
Width: 31"
Height: 24"
Weight: 830 lbs
Displacement: 960 cubic inches
Max Wide Open Throttle RPM: 8,500-9,000

First scheduled maintenance:
Naturally aspirated (pump gas 87 octane) 1,440 hp pleasure use at 400 hours.
Turbo-charged 10 lbs boost (pump gas 87 octane) 2,400 hp poker run version at 200 hours.
Turbo-charged 25 lbs boost (race fuel 116 octane) 3,600 hp race version at 30 hours.

the picture of the engine at the boat show has a very bizzarre intake/exhaust setup, i think its just for the show, not the actual functional setup.

didn't see this posted before, sorry if its a re-post.

You missed the boat, man.

RotaryEvolution 07-25-11 02:03 PM

you also missed that it hasn't even run yet, so i have no idea how he came up with any figures.

yes i know i have been a thorn in his side, but i wouldn't mind hearing it run, even if it only runs for 10 seconds. :)

guess i just get irritated by false claims, he even made a plaque for it... especially for 87 octane fuel, unless it is running water injection which 2500HP is still going to be a feat with low octane even with 12 rotors, even if they are in perfect balance of one another's plane. a more realistic figure would be 550 crank horsepower from each bank of 4 rotors, which would put it at a modest figure of 1650 crank horsepower.

even with massive turbos the 87 octane will be a limiting factor as well as trying to balance each bank of the motor to work in harmony with the others, being out of sync will reduce the efficiency of the whole motor resulting in lower figures, possibly even continual blown rotors(unless a very sophisticated engine management system is equipped where each rotor has it's EGT and AFR monitored and adjusted on the fly by the ECU in a self learn function), which this one will be difficult to reproduce easily for R+D when failures occur.

so call me a skeptic but i hate wading through pools of BS, even if the product looks nice and shiney. i just can't figure out if he has money burning a hole in his pocket that badly or is looking for investors for something that will never be. ideally it would be naturally aspirated and produce about 1500 crank horsepower with aggressive porting for high RPM applications, now that is a quite possible reality for his project without the necessity of another $300k and a decade of trial and error.

but hey, prove me wrong with a youtube video of it pulling a dyno stand out of the ground with the massive 3 turbo setup on it or single turbo to which size i don't even know exists.

87 octane auto ignites in rotaries at below 10 psi by the way, this i already know for a fact(considering this engine uses 13B rotors a chunk of what we know applies to it). next hurdle is keeping the whole thing together at 3600 crank horsepower? lol, right. hopefully he doesn't really play poker, cause his poker face isn't working for me. just too many things not adding up, at least don't pump yourself up when promoting your project or you'll find yourself being criticized. sadly, it looks like a well planned motor but with figures slapped down like a honda built off ebay.

ok so i found it running but doesnt show any power output.
