What about a setup like Subaru uses in both thier WRC and road cars? Have a top mount intercooler (top front) and have thier hood ducted to supply air to it, along with vents for heat to escape. Sounds like a good solution to this problem..

I wonder what type of aftermarket intercooler second gen owners use and whether or not they have heating issues

I use an old style(small) HKS intercooler on my road race FC. Mods include; dual stock oil coolers, large hole(24"x3") where molding should be on front bumper cover and support, all front mounted accessories relocated, Huge custom griffin radiator,w/AST, Custom shrouds, hood insulation and rear gasket removed, hood is cantilevered up about 1.5" in the rear. The car makes around 400rwhp, and both water and oil temps stay below 200 after 30 minutes of road racing on an 80 degree day. Prior to cutting the bumper cover the car could only run around 7-10 minutes before overheating. Carl Byck
