Anyone have experience with Rotary Extreme V-Mount IC/Rad?

Looks cool, and seems like it would be effective, particularly with a vented hood. Seems like it would do better if there was something to keep the air from flowing inbetween their ends. Blake |

low intake temps consistent water temps even without the shrouding. I think chuck has finished the shrouding now and is now selling it with the kit though. email him and ask for sure. |
suganama, care to post any pics of the front end with the V-mount? I'm curious as to how the radiator mounts and where the fans go

probably so you don't get all of that radiator heat on your intercooler at a stop.
JT Imports has a used KS one for $2200. But other than that, it's probably best to get the Rotary Extreme one, same price as a USED Knightsports. As stated before, keeps temps low, best for extended track racing, and extended periods of boost. If you don't do that too often, most people say go with the standard setup of stock mount radiator (id assume upgraded) and a nice FMIC. Question: how big is the intercooler core? |

V-mount content: Intercooler with piping, 2" racing twin-row radiator, Samco radiator hose, silicon hose connectors, brackets, hose clamps. Intercooler Spec: Newest tube-and-fin intercooler core, with internal fins, flows 935 CFM at 15 psi, enough to support 600HP. Radiator Spec: 2" thick twin row racing radiator. Requirement: Greddy elbow, smaller battery or battery relocation, aftermarket intake such as Rotary Extreme cold air intake specially made for V-mount application (coming soon), Greddy, M2, Pettit Racing, etc. |
One question I couldn't get answered (Maybe I didn't look hard enough) but do you still have to remove the A/C?

i remember reading about not really having a good place to mount the condenser. I'm not sure if there are any other problems.

if i remember correctly you do not have to remove the ac. But that places restrictions on how big the ic can be. Maybe chuck will grace us on this thread.

You don't have to remove the A/C anymore. I will have a lot more pictures of the new V mount I am making later but here is a spy photo for you.

Yup, that one is not even done yet. I have the intercooler made on the car to ensure proper fitment.

i don't know, my knowledge of physics says that since the intercooler is mounted at an angle, it has less airflow b/c of the overall surface area being tilted from onflowing air, therefore both the radiator and intercooler suffer. It might be better than having one or the other suffer. But it looks damn good.

T88 - there's a lot that goes into it. I've got an ASME paper here that details a few different oblique heat exchanger configurations. They're not as good as a perpendicular configuration, but in a few more-esoteric configurations (two-pass parallel flow and folded core) they do quite well. What's critical here is the inlet and outlet header setup (concerning nonuniformity in air flow).
If you're interested, the paper is "Oblique Flow Headers for Heat Exchangers" A. L. London, G. Klopfer, S. Wolf in Journal of Engineering for Power, p 271 July 1968. It's really dense stuff, so be forewarned. :) Brandon |

Hey everyone, Chuck just posted pics of the version II V-mount. The pics actually show the placement of the shrouding, intake, battery, and a/c condenser. It is looking like a VERY sweet set-up.

The radiator is a modified koyo with custom end tanks. You can't just buy a regular koyo and drop it in like that.

I am going to install one on a customer's car sometime next week. The car has all the bolt on upgrades for the stock turbo so it will have a better presentation than the photos I have on the website now with the single turbo.
