tell me what you all think couple kills

ok i just picked up a 91 t2 105000 miles great condition with full done suspension but i think the motor is stock. so heres what i raced tell me if it is stock to the best of your knowledge. first a turbo 420a eclipse fully built on 7 lbs and won by 2 carfs. then a full built gsr integra on 10psi and won but was passed at 105mph also a 12psi built supercharged scion tc by 5 to 6 cars and last but not least about an hour ago i raced a mostly stock rx8 and killed him by like 6 cars what do you guys think

Slow Rotor 10-28-08 04:52 AM

Doesnt sound stock to me, know what quarter times any of these cars run? My car was doing 15's when it was basically stock, had a few mods but engine was on its way out

Jakor 10-28-08 05:29 PM

Sounds a bit hopped up, intake or exhaust that you know/can tell of? T2's have some boost creep issues (that I've heard of, I've never had a t2 just a couple friends) ;)

camaro9407 10-28-08 06:37 PM

i have an xr1 borla resonator and an intake elbow. the tc said he ran 13.1 but i think its bs and the integra said 13.0 so i dunno it spins first second chirps third hard and chirps fourth. im just trying to find out what could be done that i cant see

Slow Rotor 10-29-08 04:32 AM

Well then its defo not stock. My car has a fair bit of work done to it and best i have gotten was a 13.4 still on the stock turbo, from what i gather its hard to get much faster than that on the std turbo

Many people don't know what they run and their guess' is based on someone else hoping to get a specific number then not wanting to admit they didn't get that number and everyone else around them gets faster and faster, pretty soon 15 second cars are 13 second cars... (Like this dodge conquest I know of. He said he should be a high 12 low 13 second car, and I beat him and I'm a high 13 low 14 based on racing a friend with an actual timeslip in his hand.)

I raced a civic hatch (lighter than an integra) and he runs dead even with me, but he has a fully built (intake/exhaust/cams/computer/internal engine/don't think it's bored though) ls vtec. The guy you raced is supercharged, but that may be why he thinks he's a 13 (not saying he isn't, just saying slapping a supercharger on a gsr doesn't automatically make it 13 flat who knows what was done to his engine.) If you find someone with a timeslip, You can find out a range for your car, but even then there's quite a bit of room between a 13.0 and a 13.5.

Maybe you can start with what the boost guage says when you are at full boost. Also some pictures of the engine bay if you can. It'll be tricky to find out what was done as there are so many things that affect the performance.

camaro9407 11-01-08 11:49 PM

ran 14.70 @ 103

Slow Rotor 11-02-08 12:46 AM

Wow that MPH is high for that time! that mph is good for mid 13's

Jakor 11-02-08 11:09 AM

when I was a high 14 I was closer to 95 mph. Maybe you need more traction?

camaro9407 11-03-08 12:41 AM

ok help explain this. so i got a boost guage and i got 7 in first 11 in second and 15 in third. dont know why. no detonation, no fuel cut. im so confused. howcome it hasnt blown up??????

glhs0867 11-03-08 07:55 AM

You don't want that car with the boost all over the place..sell me the car before you blow it up.

I'd figure that one out ;) . I would suggest making sure that the car can handle that kind of boost before running it. If you don't have the fuel, the car would detonate and that means new engine. But hey now you know it's not "stock"!

camaro9407 11-05-08 07:22 PM

k i got it fixed it was a cracked wastegate line. so i fixed it and it is now only 7.5 in all gears. but even at 15 lbs i got no fuel cut nor did it detonate at all. what the hell?

Jakor 11-06-08 11:06 AM

lucky?

RExy4jay 12-25-08 02:42 AM

Super lucky! car might already have a FCD....most people are smart enough to get it when they open up the exhaust cause the turbo will creep up alot. still.....15psi is WAY too much on the stock turbo. bakin cookies on the intercooler LOL

RExy4jay 12-25-08 02:43 AM

and my post count is still 10....hmmmm

i know i don't ever post but shit...its been 10 forever

boostinfc3s 02-23-09 01:42 AM

god damn.. fully built gsr @ 10 psi!? and you're stock? he has to be a boo boo driver..

SwiftTone 02-26-09 10:14 AM

I think the term "fully built" is used too often when its not really "fully built". When I think "built", I identify that as everything is upgraded. So either they weren't built, something was wrong with their cars, or they are terrible drivers.

I had a '88 10AE with RB 3" exhaust, ported throttle body, intake, FCD, Jacobs ignition and a '91 turbo, boosting 8psi. With low traction in 1st, and slipping clutch 2nd and 3rd gear, i ran a 13.6 @ 103mph. Was on a cold/slick track w/o burnout.

You should be running better times if your trapping at 103mph.

I pushed 20 lbs once or twice when I had a stock turbo ... maybe that's why there was oil in the intake track...

Ya, well, stock turbo at 20psi will make as much power as it would at like 12psi. And as a bonus, you get a damaged turbo! Heat soak is a bitch.
