lost pretty badly

coming home from classes a sheet of ice slid off teh roof of the car in front of me, smacked my s13 pretty hard. they didn't stop to see if everything was ok, and i wasnt sure if there was any damage, but i jotted the plate number down anyways. called teh cops after i got off rt. 222. the ice fucked up my front bumper, pass headlight and fender, driver side turnsignal and put some nice scratches in my vis cf hood. cop checked it out and tracked her down based on my description and plate #. she's gonna have to pay and might even get hit and run citation since she just kept on drivin. she was a fuckin clueless bitch who acted like she didnt even know what was goin on. good thing they made it illegal to drive w/ ice sheets on ur car, you can get a $1000 fine for it. i know i'll be compensated but it really pisses me off since the paint is 1 month old and the parts damaged are aftermarket. oh well, i guess now i'll get the type x bumper and repaint and fix the other shit.

RotaryDreamz 02-16-07 10:54 PM

sorry to hear that... lucky you got the plate number down, i would never think of that because i prolly wouldve been soo pissed off and rammed her off the road... lucky it wasnt the 7 that got damaged.... anyways, was the bitch hott??

RipOff 02-17-07 06:11 PM

Following too closely???? And maybe she didn't know the ice slid off her roof...

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-17-07 10:18 PM

no way not even close to hott. and no. i was not following too closely, no rear tire tread + rear wheel w/ turbo+ still some ice and snow on the road = keeping 4 second distance at least and speeds at under a few miles under the speed limit. the ice caught some air and got lift. shot up in the air really high that i actually lost sight of it. some were saying its a possibility that she didnt know, which is true but it was at least 2 or more inches of solid ice. if a slab big enough to cover the whole roof came off you should hear it unless ur really not paying attention to anything. i hear when even little slabs slid off, but i like to pay attention when i drive...thats just me though

cdaleracer669 02-17-07 11:11 PM

she probably didnt know. most women wouldnt notice if the rear axle was torn out of it and they were dragging the ass end of the car on the ground.

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-18-07 11:23 AM

i suppose its possible, we'll see. another reason i dont follow too close is cuz my paint job was 1 month old.....which is now fucked up

cdaleracer669 02-18-07 11:34 AM

that really sucks. i have stock paint and dont follow closely to avoid chips......

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-18-07 12:28 PM

yeah i know, the car was primered for a while, and the accident had to happen after i get a one of a kind paint job...oh well, thats life

13bturbofc 02-18-07 12:58 PM

I hope she doesn't have Erie insurance for her sake. If she does, she won't for much longer.

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-20-07 06:26 PM

she's got donegal, and they've been pretty pleasant to work w/ so we'll see

adam c 02-20-07 07:19 PM

Nice kill. The seven can't lose!!!

Isn't that what we are supposed to say in the kills section???????????????? :D

rs1tc 02-20-07 07:47 PM

She knew she left ice on her car that could fly off and cause a hazard. Do you guys over on the east side have those highway advisory signs that flash and tell you to tune into an AM station? Every morning on my way to school I see them and I'm like "oh snap, wreck!" No its the damn message about cleaning ice and snow off your vehicle. Maybe people don't know how to use the AM radio. LOL Nice kill Rx-7 1 Ice 0.

This isn't the "east side" this is no-mans land bumphuque. I see them a lot in the Philly area though.

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-22-07 11:55 AM

update: car has been declared a total loss, and they will give me $2900 for the title. or i can keep it, get an r-title and they give me the value of the car minus the salvage value, which brings my total to getting $2750.88 to fix my car and they cover fees for a rental car.

SLOASFK 02-22-07 12:16 PM

she did that much damage to your car? that fucking sucks man. I know you JUST finished your SR20 swap, so I assume you'll take the 2750.88 and postpone the TII swap on the FC?

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-22-07 08:47 PM

yeah unfortunately. i'll take the money and get an r title. the only reason the damage was estimated to be so much was cuz all areas hit were aftermarket besides corner light and fender. bodykit front bumper, hid headlight, vis vader cf hood, and brand new custom paint. w/ all that they figure it to be more than $3000. luckily i can source out a type x kit and the paint and body work will only cost me supplies, so i should have some left over but i need tires and brakes to pass inspection. and while i get the car repainted i'm going w/ a cf hatch cuz my old one is pretty fucked

mirabile 02-23-07 09:02 AM

That sucks. Hope you get some money back.

Rexpelagi 02-23-07 09:35 AM

Wow, 3000 of damage? That is surprising.

And ya, I see this type of thing all the time, though I have never seen it actually hit anything. I will be driving and then suddenly 50 feet in the air is a massive slab of ice that flew off of a car a second earlier. I always thought that would hurt.

I will admit I am guilty of it sometimes, though I almost always clear it off (unless I physically cannot get it off, which has been known to happen here). And yes, even the little slabs that come off are quite loud and you know what happened.

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-23-07 09:42 PM

yeah its understandable if you you try and cant get it off, but this was a huge ass chucnk. yeah shes dumb as a bag of rocks, but i'll be getting my money and a rental next week, and then my car goes under the knife

thanks, it'll be worth it to keep the, just a lot of paper work and crap. i just got pics of teh car w/ damage and i'll post them w/ pics of when its done.

dumpsterdriver 02-25-07 09:29 PM

she didnt do any damage to your car dude, it was random and the shit happens when you drive in this weather. why act like a hard ass about it... theres no way i would know if a chunk of ice came off of the roof of my winter beater van and hit someone behind me.

be glad insurance is covering it, but more importantly drop any negativity towards her for it.. the shit happens in this nasty weather.. thats why i drive a pile of shit that i dont care about when its crusty out like this.. ive had too many actual dumbfucks slam into me because they didnt know how to drive on ice

The fact is, it's illigal in PA(and I'm sure in indiana too) to drive with ice on the roof of your car. You HAVE to clear it off. if you don't, it can fly up and total someone elses car, possibly kill them, if a chunk goes through the windshield. Check out the law, you'll see.

Wh1t3 C0m3t 02-26-07 08:10 AM

yeah, its illegal so i cant just say oh well. you cant just decide which laws to follow and which ones to ignore. there was another incident locally this winter where ice flew off a truck, hitting the windshield of a car and causing an accident. the ice shattered the glass and put a young girl in the hospital...not ok in my book. who are you to tell me to drop any negativity towards her? do you know the whole story? when i spoke with her on the phone she accused me of making up damage just to get money out of her. she siad she didnt konw there was any ice on teh car...and then later said she knew it was there she just didnt know it hit me. she told me i should have tried to get here attention, when i told her i drove next to her waving my arm, she said she saw that but didnt know i was trying to get her attention. maybe i wouldnt be negative if her story matched up and she didnt accuse me of just trying to take her money. she apologized at first but then said she would deny everything to her insurance company. im not being a hard ass, i could press charges for hit a run and for having ice on her car. i dont want to be a dick, i just want money to fix my car. if i had a beater to drive around then i would, but i have one car that runs so this is all i got, besides the roads were were fine at that point, just a little wet. how was i to know ice would fly off another car? im nopt trying to be a dick to you but its frustarating enough without someone i dont even know telling me im in the wrong for getting hit by ice from a negligent driver
