That bike got destroyed. F1....18,000 RPM...900 Hp......superior contact patch/low center of gravity = 9 sec 1/4 mile. That boat wasn't even in the race - it needed a triple rotor with a big turbo to hang ;)

Watersports suck! All about land sports!

It was free but I guess they changed it. You lose.

Yep!

Turbo23 04-27-06 10:37 PM

I didnt see the video, but if you have ever seen those drag boats (im assuming the one in the video wasnt) they are incredibly fast

Improved FD 04-27-06 11:33 PM

that vid clearly demonstrates the concept that aerodynamics and horspeower dominate the equation as you approach triple digits....in an 80 mph roll-on, it would be a complete joke

the "power to weight" parrots need to study that video

the main limitation with super short wheelbase bikes is you can't keep the front wheel on the ground

a bone stock ZX-14, with a relatively long wheelbase, would have been right there

But the bike will always lose due to contact patch and hp. Fastest bike vs fastest car...you get the picture.

Improved FD 04-28-06 12:37 AM

are we talking 1/4 mile? there are some pretty quick drag bikes out there

power to weight certainly is a significant factor in a drag race, and the bikes have a monster slick on the back

Stix37867 04-28-06 01:34 AM

Anyone know where i can buy a used F1 piston??? I'd like to put one on my keychain. lol

Busa413 04-28-06 07:31 AM

Now it would have been much closer if they would have evend the playing field more. Put a Moto GP bike in there and it's a whole different story, and from the looks of it that was a 600RR not a 1000RR but it's hard to tell without looking closer. Eitherway that F1 car is bad as hell.

Bring any drag bike you want but you have a zero chance of beating the fastest drag car...An NHRA top fuelie...

That's true, no doubt but bring the quickest street legal class car against the quickest street legal bike and there is no chance for the car.

Eson 04-28-06 08:31 PM

That boat sucked! Why didnt they use a F1-boat?
Oh, thats right, thats Top Gear. No matter what a car is matched up against, the car always win...

We are talking the fastest PERIOD. Not some smogged down, emissioned vehicles.

An NHRA Funny car or rail will suck the paint off ANY bike you can bring, PERIOD.

No shit, I never said it wouldn't. I was just saying make things level, as in the same class and for the most part except for Top Fuel the bike will win. Putting an F1 car against a basic super stock bike is like running a Turbo Busa against a showroom Z06, that is all I was getting at.

I still disagree. There are many classes that other than top fuel which will still beat the bike.
Secondly, take it to the race curcuit. Put an F1 car against an F1 bike and guess what? The bike gets it's azz crushed again. It's basic physics.

Improved FD 04-29-06 12:00 PM

that's all true, but for 10 grand I can pick up a new machine that will run 9s, top out and about 180+, go around corners like stink, and smoke a new ZO6, or at least equal it on a roadcourse

not a bad deal....and there is nothing like the feeling of cornering on a bike....a car will never give you the same rush (in my opinion)

once in awhile, you have to get out of the steel cage, drop your knee on the deck, and experience the world of two wheels and "defy" a few laws of physics....GOOD STUFF

I agree but with a little age and a realization of mortality I prefer doors, seatbelts and airbags.

Also I like a/c and I can roll up the windows in the rain.
